This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule – 3 days in-office in Novi, Michigan and 2 days remote work, after the period of training and assimilation.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for strategic and tactical Procurement activities for a defined commodity from the point of customer award through end of production. Responsibility may be regional and/or global.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategy for assigned commodities.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, LTAs, volume scale pricing, commercial conditions and NDAs.
- Interact with internal stakeholders to drive standardization and strategy execution.
- Define Stoneridge’s current and future global needs for specific commodity groupings.
- Evaluate nature of market supply along with process and technology trends.
- Source material requirements to the required specification at a competitive best-landed cost terms.
- Drive and support supplier nomination / award new business.
- Participate in APQP activities and drive suppliers towards on time product launch.
- Ensure no disruption of material supply.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction activities through on-going negotiations.
- Manage prices: 1) Define initial pricing and ensure accurately reflected in ERP systems; 2) Resolve or escalate changes in price due to supplier by utilizing the Price Change process; 3) Calculate lowest total cost on quantity/price tradeoffs and work with Planners to execute; 4) Assist in annual standard setting.
- Manage Tooling contracts.
- Manage prototype purchases.
- Manage the vendor qualification process.
- ERP System database maintenance and integrity.
- Liaise with suppliers both on and off site with a view to improving supplier performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or relevant field.
- Five (5) years of Purchasing experience in the automotive industry with Tier I and with direct responsibility for commodities.
- Experience working in global-matrix environment.
- Negotiations experience, including direct responsibility for negotiations strategy.
- Good English language skills, verbal and written.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, especially Powerpoint and Excel.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 10% Travel, domestic and/or international is possible.
