Land 'N' Sea Distributing, Inc. is a full service, wholesale only distributor, serving the Marine and RV Industries for over 40 years. With thousands of different parts and accessories available from distribution centers nationwide, Land 'N' Sea prides itself on fast, efficient “same day/next day” delivery throughout the US and Canada. In a cooperative effort with Mercury Marine's Latin America and Caribbean division, Land 'N' Sea serves over 60 additional countries worldwide.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Category Management, act as Category Manager for assigned Marine Product families. Preferred area of product knowledge to include marine hardware, boatyard, and general marine accessories, but assignments are flexible based on candidate’s areas of expertise.
Land ‘N’ Sea headquarters are in Pompano Beach, FL. Preference would be local to Pompano Beach, FL, however remote work location is possible. Relocation will not be required.
In addition to profit and loss responsibility for the assigned category, this individual will have the following primary responsibilities:
1. Conduct market research and analysis to assess business opportunities within a product category. Knowledge of market size, market share, pricing, distribution channels and related competitive factors will be essential to capitalize and leverage category opportunities.
2. Utilize voice-of-the-customer data to define key attributes for new/existing products, quality perceptions/issues, etc.
3. Develop a multi-year strategic business plan for the assigned category with “cradle to grave” product management responsibilities.
4. Prepare annual budget and performance parameters for the product category that are aligned with Land ‘N’ Sea sales and profit targets.
5. Work with Land ‘N’ Sea sales & marketing personnel to develop and implement a sales and marketing initiatives that will drive growth in both the sales & profitability of the category that meets or exceeds budgeted levels.
6. Develop a multi-year product plan for the category with a focus on meeting evolving customer/consumer needs & quality expectations, innovation, styling, and managing the product portfolio.
7. Coordinate with the purchasing, financial, distribution, and sales departments to meet inventory turn, fill rates, and customer satisfaction objectives.
8. Support sales effort through pricing strategy, sales analysis, product training, communications and promotions.
9. Negotiate full vendor programs, including best cost, payment terms, co-op and advertising support, inventory management, and dealer trade show participation. Provide the BEST COST and pricing strategy to sales management for assigned categories.
10. Acting as the primary vendor contact for assigned vendors, manage relationships with key vendor partners
Education Requirements (special training, college degree, etc.)
* Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent experience required
* MBA preferred
* 5 to 6 years’ experience in product management, supply chain, marketing, wholesale distribution experience in purchasing and/or sales management.
* Demonstrated ability to generate, interpret and analyze data (quantitative and qualitative).
* Boating and/or RV experience considered a plus.
Skill Requirements (Technical, Communication, Interpersonal, etc.)
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Must have excellent negotiation skills.
* Advanced Excel and database skills and proficiency with PowerPoint required.
* Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Must have good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with internal departments and external contacts, such as: customers, consumers, independent sales reps, vendors and others.
* Lead cross-functional and cross-business teams.
Work Environment will be remote home or local Land ‘N’ Sea office or corporate office with daily interaction utilizing Microsoft Teams conference and meetings platform.
Moderate travel (10-15%)
