SUMMARY:
This position, located in Grand Rapids, MI will report to the Senior Customer Category Manager, Meijer/Target and support Category Leadership efforts by providing ad-hoc category and shopper analytics and developing actionable recommendations to drive category/brand growth. These insights will create and deliver solutions that satisfy both Tyson and Meijer strategies and objectives. This role will also hold the Category Captain role for Fresh Chicken, Frozen Chicken and Frozen Protein Breakfast with an increased level of support building POGs. It involves a high level of interaction with both Tyson and Meijer management as well as time in the Meijer HQ office during seasonal POG building.
Utilizes internal and external research and leverages Meijer customer data to create actionable and relevant insights that can be applied to Meijer’s strategic and tactical plans.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Collaborates with retailer on insights utilizing market, competitive and Meijer trends (syndicated and dunnhumby)
- Space planning and versioning planograms to support Meijer’s Category Captaincy program
- Leverages key shopper and industry trends
- Analyzes category, competitive and market trends (syndicated data)
- Develops and drives assortment and space optimization at the retailer
- Provides on-going post promotional analysis for retailer
- Develops Category Business Plans with internal sales team
- Develops customer Category Reviews and New Item presentations with the support of various team members.
- Develops insight-based recommendations based on analysis of space management (e.g., assortment), sales, distribution, pricing, and promotion
- Provides ongoing reporting to both retailer and sales teams
REQUIREMENTS:
Location: Grand Rapids, MI preferred
Education: Bachelor's Degree required
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in category management/shopper insights or similar function in Consumer-Packaged Goods (preferred). Food Industry/Meijer experience a plus
Other Skills: Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel. Strong experience working with and analyzing syndicated data in NielsenIQ or Circana (formerly IRI).
Experience with Meijer specific data (dunnhumby, Circana, NielsenIQ) is a plus
Space planning experience utilizing Blue Yonder (JDA) or similar applications
Communication Skills: Must be comfortable presenting to Sr. Mgmt. and voicing opinion to team. Excellent planning and project management skills. Strong ability to leverage creative thinking and presentation skills.
