The role & team
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fashion & Luxury Category Manager to be based in our Milan team. This role is pivotal in driving the category performance by translating market needs into effective sourcing strategies, engaging with diverse Seller portfolios and enhancing the customer B2C and C2C experience, working cross-functionally with Product, Shipping, and Global Business Unit partners.
What you will accomplish
Own and leverage in depth the Italian Fashion & luxury competitive landscape and eBay’s internal data to identify supply & demand opportunities and define actionable plans, maximising market insights/trends to drive growth, increase market share, and stay ahead of the competition.
Build and optimize the assortment plan balancing inventory optimization/expansion on categories’ selection. Source to anticipate demand and build supply to improve discoverability, increase GMV, and enhance buyer satisfaction in a competitive market
Collaborate with global and local teams on seller acquisition, account management and tailored marketing/PR initiatives. Develop strategic relationships with industry players to enhance services and offerings for Fashion buyers and sellers.
Partner with Product and the Global Business Unit to design and launch features that improve the buyer and seller experience, contributing to business requirements, ideation, and research validation
Site Merchandising: define a 52-week calendar outlining key retail moments, and seasonal events where eBay should show up (onsite/offsite) to generate relevancy, visibility, and GMV growth.
Monitor, analyze, and report on key category metrics to measure success, inform decisions, and guide future initiatives.
Represent the Fashion & luxury category internally and externally
What you will bring:
Strong experience in, or a strong demonstrated passion for, the fashion/luxury new and 2nd hand market
First-hand experience buying or selling luxury fashion (bags, sneakers,...) on eBay or competitor platforms
Ability to analyse data, extract key insights, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Strategic thinking skills with a proactive, self-starting, problem solving, results-focused approach
Strong project management & communication skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
Comfort working in a fast-paced online or e-commerce environment
Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to achieve shared goals
Fluent in both Italian and English (oral and written) and willing to travel to industry events, partners, and eBay offices as needed
