The Category Management Specialist (CMS) role is a key contributor to P&G Target Team Category Management’s mission of driving Target’s category growth in-store and online. CMS roles collaborate internally with P&G Category Managers and externally with Target partners in Merchandising and Space Planning & Transition, to deliver the following core responsibilities:
- Ensure flawless execution of category strategy within Target’s shelf layout by executing key components of Target’s shelf planogram (POG) build process for their assigned category(ies) plus flow support where needed across the Category Management (Cat Man) team. This scope includes owning key parts of the preparation for POG build (e.g. store groupings, assortment grids) and key parts of the POG build itself (e.g. manual building, marketing element implementation on POG, POG proof reading). Additionally:
- Own Target in India relationship regarding POG process.
- Be the expert on all POG systems / tools / software internally and externally with Target.

- Execute Category Data & Analytics for their assigned category(ies) including item attribution to enable analytics & insights, annual Category Review analytics, and Weekly / Monthly / Ad-hoc analytics & insights development leading to actionable recommendations for Target strategies in-store and online. Capabilities leveraged include but are not limited to Target POS, Nielsen scanning, Nielsen Omnishopper panel, Numerator, and other Target and marketplace data sources.

- Contribute to total Target Team Cat Man capability and work process best practices development and activation. This will vary based on business need but can include things like on-boarding / training programs and supporting team-wide automation / best practices projects.
Job Qualifications
• Excellent computer skills which include intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. V-Lookups and Pivot tables) and PowerPoint.
• Technical aptitude and interest that enables quickly learning additional software applications for the POG process and data & analytics.
• Strong focus and attention to detail.
• Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work and problem solve independently and successfully manage multiple priorities at the same time. A self starter who takes the initiative to get things done.
