PURPOSE OF THIS JOB

The role is also critical to providing internal business intelligence and strategic direction and the successful candidate will be able to utilize a commercial, brand and category viewpoints to provide long term strategic recommendations for growth.
The Category Analyst is a highly cross functional position and will need to collaborate heavily with internal teams, retailers, agencies and brand principles. The key objective is realizing insight led opportunities that will grow category and brand sales, enhancing our confectionery, snacking and beverage brands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Category Reviews & Planogram Execution.
- Understanding of macro environment, retailer and shopper trends and recommending appropriate tactics
- Strategically develop customer Category plans that integrate with the customers overall business goals
- Deliver planogram management and creation centred on objective insights and or brands Category Principles – fair share of space, enhanced SKU mix, shelf position and segmentation
- Monitor implementation and review recommendations seeking continuous opportunities for growth
Delivering Insights, Creating Action
- Turn insights into actions within retailers by executing, analysing and evaluating category plans & data
- Utilise insights to help field sales win on the ground
- Price, Promotion, Mix, NPD and Distribution analysis focusing on opportunities to grow
- Maintain monthly performance reports and present to brand principles & internal stakeholders
- Deliver and own internal business intelligence suite and make tactical and strategic recommendations
- Database maintenance, report automation and ensuring front end visuals are enhanced
Additional responsibilities;
- Support the Beverage, Confectionery & Snacks Category & Insights team by taking ownership of key cross-category tasks, allowing senior stakeholders to focus on strategic and customer-facing work
- Manage and update brand presentations and performance materials, including regular deck updates and input to customer reviews
- Maintain data accuracy, including upload, coding and upkeep across Snacks & Confectionery, with scope to support Beverages over time
- Work closely with Category, Sales and Commercial teams to improve ways of working and team effectiveness
- Help improve processes, reporting and insights in line with business growth and evolving retailer needs
WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE
- Volume growth, enhanced Value Share, Increased share of shelf, range growth and secure Category Partnerships.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, including at least 2 years in Category / Insight roles
- Extensive knowledge of Nielsen/IRI Data and exposure to Dunnhumby, EYC or Shopper Intelligence
- Understanding of the importance of product mix, promotion and price architecture
- Understanding of Data warehousing, attributions and Visualisation such as PowerBI
- Familiar with Planogram software, such as Spaceman
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel & PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical skills to turn data into insight and insight into impactful stories
- Strong project management and planning competencies
- Innovative, solution-oriented mindset with problem solving and strategic thinking skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Strong collaborator with effective and impactful communication style

Skills Required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Category / Insight roles

The way it works. Our business is divided into three areas: Sales, Marketing and Finance. It doesn't matter what team you are in or what level you are, we all work together to get the job done.. We have about 70 people in our sales team. They are responsible for all our customers, from the major supermarkets and cash and carries to pubs, restaurants and nightclubs. They are supported by national account managers who help the sales team deliver their business objectives whilst helping the major retailers deliver theirs. In Marketing we have over 20 people. We have Marketing Managers, Brand Managers, Trade Marketing Managers and staff to support them and help make things happen. Our Finance area has 30 people. Not just the accountants but also our administrators, Customer Service team, Logistics team and IT support team. We are committed to supporting the development of talent within our business.
