Bell & Evans is looking for dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Live Operations team as Chicken Catchers. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and humanely catching chickens to ensure the processing plant has a consistent supply to meet production needs. Team members play a critical role in upholding our commitment to animal welfare, food safety, and product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Catch chickens safely and efficiently to support daily production requirements.
- Take a proactive role in ensuring safe, high-quality products by immediately reporting any safety or quality concerns.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to animal welfare.
- Handle birds in accordance with Bell & Evans' humane handling standards.
- Adhere to all company biosecurity protocols to protect flock health.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform duties in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Work scheduled shifts of 8–10 hours or longer as needed, with approximately 8 hours dedicated to catching operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Up to three months of related work experience or training is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to animal welfare, food safety, and quality standards.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Reliable attendance and dependability.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
This position requires working in a physically demanding environment with frequent exposure to:
- Wet and humid conditions.
- Dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Moderate noise levels.
