At Service Express, we believe that great work starts with great people! We are looking for a Cash Application & AR Specialist to focus primarily on accurate and timely posting of customer payments. Additionally, you will provide minor support to the collections process by following up on overdue accounts and assisting in resolving payment discrepancies.
Here's what this position is all about...
Cash Application
- Accurately apply customer payments to corresponding accounts and invoices in the company’s accounting system
- Reconcile payment discrepancies, manage remittance details, and ensure data accuracy
- Research and resolve unapplied cash, providing timely resolution and adjustments as necessary
Bank Reconciliation & Posting
- Perform daily reconciliation of bank statements to ensure alignment with the cash application records
- Collaborate with the accounting team to address discrepancies between bank records and the general ledger
Minor Collections Support
- Contact customers via email or phone to follow up on overdue accounts and resolve payment-related issues
- Work closely with the Accounts Receivable team to ensure customer accounts are updated and payment arrangements are followed
- Assist in setting up payment plans for overdue accounts when needed
Customer Account Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer accounts, including all payments received, unapplied cash, and credit memos
- Address customer inquiries regarding account balances, payments, and statements promptly
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare regular cash application and aging reports for management review
- Provide insights into cash application trends, account reconciliation statuses, and support for monthly financial close activities
Process Improvement
- Identify and recommend process improvements within the cash application workflow to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Work with finance and IT teams to streamline cash application tools and automation
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 3-5 years experience in cash application and collections
- Good relationship building skills
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to adapt within a rapidly changing environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective analytical and strategic thinking skills, including a pragmatic approach to solving problems
- Proven organizational skills including a commitment to best practices and high standards of performance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, and Great Plains
