How you’ll make a difference:

You’ll build strong relationships, collaborate with injured workers, their employers, medical service providers and others to develop individualized recovery services and planning.  You’ll play a pivotal role in facilitating medical and re-employment services for clients, working to get them back to work and their lives. You’ll use your strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to create a collaborative plan that supports a safe recovery and return to work. With people at the heart of everything we do, you will deliver high level customer service and act as an educator and negotiator when managing client expectations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work with interested parties to assess and develop detailed plans that support claimants return to suitable work.
  • Use various methods of communication to collaborate with workers, employers and others, including written correspondence, conference calls and in-person meetings.
  • Provide clients with options through problem solving and creative solutions.
  • Interpret medical reports and coordinate or authorize medical treatment, as required.
  • Determine entitlement to wage replacement benefits and anticipate specific customer needs to ensure they receive the benefits and services that support their recovery.
  • Deliver high level customer service and act as an educator and negotiator when managing client expectations.
  • Uphold the values, principles and regulations of the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Act.

Your experience and skills:

  • A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Rehabilitation or Disability Management.
  • Related experience in disability management or medical rehabilitation is required. 
  • Experience in vocational rehabilitation is considered an asset.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and keyboard skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with medical or rehabilitative terminology is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a proven ability to treat customers with compassion and kindness,
  • Skilled in applying policy with critical thinking, creativity and flexibility to make fair and timely decisions.
  • Strong communicator, active listener with clear verbal and written skills.
  • Effective negotiator with a talent for resolving complex, sensitive issues.
  • Highly organized multitasker who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume settings.

Salary:   $81,485 to $97,826 per annum (Pay Grade 11)

Internal candidates will be considered for the October 20, 2025, class, while external candidates will be considered for the November 3, 2025, class. Please note successful candidates must be available to attend five (5) months of training at the time of hire. This position is eligible for hybrid and successful candidates will be expected to work in-office as scheduled (subject to change). Assessments will be administered as part of the selection process.
