A DAY IN A LIFE

As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

  • Drive Cargo & Freighter Sales Execution: Lead the end-to-end sales process for our four core freighter routes (HKG–KUL, HKG–Australia, HKG–BAH + Middle East trucking, HKG–Europe via Middle East). This includes proactively securing volume commitments from freight forwarders, consolidators, direct shippers, and e-commerce logistics providers, developing pricing strategies to maximize load factor and revenue, and managing post-sales account relationships.
  • Manage Agency Channels & Business Development: Establish, manage, and expand a portfolio of agency partners (BSA and block space agreement partners) across Hong Kong's fragmented forwarding market. Lead high-level negotiations to secure competitive, long-term agreements, collaborate with partners to optimize cargo mix, ensure consistent volume commitments, and provide strategic guidance to junior team members on complex deals.
  • Drive Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights: Conduct in-depth analysis of Hong Kong's air cargo market dynamics, including competitor pricing, capacity shifts, and regulatory changes affecting key trade lanes. Translate these insights into actionable sales strategies and capacity allocation recommendations, proactively sharing intelligence with the wider commercial team to inform decision-making.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Optimization: Act as the primary escalation point for Hong Kong market sales and operational issues, collaborating with Legal, Finance, Operations, and Revenue Management to drive solutions. Coordinate with ground operations to ensure smooth cargo acceptance and trucking connectivity (especially for the Bahrain–Middle East route), and participate in optimizing bidding processes, contract templates, and performance tracking mechanisms.

Requirements

These are minimum-requirement skills and a 'must-have' for the role:

  • Hong Kong Market Expertise: Deep, proven knowledge of the Hong Kong air cargo market with an established network of relationships with major freight forwarders, consolidators, and logistics providers. Candidates without this specific Hong Kong market experience will not be considered.
  • Sales & Negotiation Excellence: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in air cargo sales, business development, or agency/channel management, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets. Must have demonstrable experience in selling freighter capacity, securing BSA/block space agreements, and managing complex contract negotiations.
  • Commercial Acumen & Leadership: Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and trends, formulate effective sales strategies, and optimize capacity utilization. A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on execution approach, advanced communication and influencing skills, and fluency in Cantonese and English (written and spoken) are mandatory.
