About the roleWe are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Capital Sales Engineering – Africa to lead our Capital Sales Engineering team and drive the growth of FLSmidth's capital equipment and solutions business across the African region.
This leadership role combines technical expertise, strategic sales planning, and customer engagement to deliver sustainable business growth, strengthen market presence, and support customers with innovative mining solutions.
Key responsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of Capital Sales Engineers across Africa.
Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve capital sales targets and business growth objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with mining customers, EPCM partners, consultants, and key industry stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the mining and mineral processing sector.
Lead technical presentations, customer workshops, and value-based solution discussions.
Oversee the development of technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.
Negotiate complex commercial agreements and capital project opportunities.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to inform business strategy.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
Represent FLSmidth at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements.
What you bringDegree qualification in Mechanical, Mining, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline.
Significant experience in technical sales of capital equipment within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
Proven leadership experience managing technical sales teams and driving business growth.
Strong understanding of capital project sales cycles and complex B2B solution selling.
Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and decision-makers at all organisational levels.
Experience using CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
Willingness to travel extensively across Africa and occasionally internationally.
Valid driver's licence.
