What We Do

Insurance is a $10T industry still running on PDFs, email threads, and manual reconciliation. Ascend is changing that. We built the first and only complete financial operations platform purpose-built for insurance — combining AI-powered accounting automation, payments, and premium financing in a single vertically integrated solution. In five years, we've become the market leader: over 4,000 businesses, including more than half of the 50 largest brokers in the country, trust Ascend to bring clarity to complex accounting operations — from collection to close.

How We Do It

Ascend automates the financial operations that insurers, MGAs, and agencies run every day — and embeds directly into the transactions where money actually moves.

AI is driving the cost of software toward zero. The companies that win won't just sell tools — they'll capture value at the point of the transaction itself. Ascend is built for exactly that moment. Our customers don't just adopt software; they unlock measurable efficiency with a proven 5–7x return on investment.

Our ~100 person team is based in San Francisco and Columbus, brings together deep expertise in insurance, fintech, and AI to build infrastructure the industry has never had.

Why We Do It

The insurance industry intermediates trillions of dollars — and almost none of that infrastructure was built for the modern era. Legacy systems aren't just inefficient; they're a ceiling on what the industry can become.

Ascend's mission is to become the leading financial automation platform for insurance by 2030 — powering the financial operations of the entire industry and transforming the way trillions of dollars move. We're not building another point solution. We're building the financial backbone of insurance.

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytically driven Capital Markets Manager to manage capital markets for Honor Capital. This role will play a central part in managing the day-to-day operations of Honor Capital's securitizations and other funding facilities, combining strong modeling skills with hands-on data management to keep the portfolio running smoothly. You'll balance rigorous quantitative work with cross-functional collaboration — owning key bank and rating agency relationships, managing legal deliverables on funding transactions, and driving portfolio analytics (forecasting, utilization, performance, and reporting) alongside the design and execution of new funding facilities. You will be an employee of Honor Capital, an Ascend company.

This role has the option to be onsite in San Francisco, CA, Fort Lauderdale, Florida or remote (EST hours).

Responsibilities

Objective #1: In your first 30 days, you will:

  • Dive deep into Honor Capital's securitizations and other funding facilities, transaction structures, and current reporting processes and tools
  • Build foundational relationships with internal partners across Finance, Legal, and Capital Markets
  • Begin developing fluency in our waterfall models, data sets, and funding protocols

Objective #2: In your first 60 days, you will:

  • Own key aspects of portfolio management including reporting, running diagnostics, and data cleansing across Honor Capital's securitizations and other funding facilities
  • Develop a strong understanding of the firm's funding protocols and procedures, executing them accurately and on schedule
  • Begin building direct relationships with bank partners and rating agencies alongside senior team members
  • Support the design, development, and execution of securitization, warehouse, and corporate funding facilities alongside senior team members

Objective #3: In your first 90 days, and beyond, you will:

  • Fully own day-to-day management of Honor Capital's securitizations and other funding facilities, controlling all aspects of reporting, diagnostics, and data cleansing
  • Own primary relationships with bank partners and rating agencies, representing Honor Capital in ongoing dialogue on facility performance, terms, and covenant compliance
  • Manage legal aspects of funding facilities, including coordinating with outside counsel on transaction documentation, amendments, and compliance requirements
  • Lead portfolio analytics — forecasting, utilization, performance, and reporting — to give leadership a real-time view into portfolio health
  • Actively participate in special projects including interest rate risk management initiatives and portfolio analysis and forecasting
  • Play a key role in driving proactive portfolio insights that leadership can act on across underwriting, operations, and collections
  • Help refine scalable portfolio management practices and modeling approaches that enable Honor Capital to operate a best-in-class funding platform

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in capital markets, structured finance, or a closely related field (e.g. asset-backed securities, warehouse facilities, securitizations, or credit facility management)
  • A four-year college degree, with majors in engineering, math, finance, physics, or economics preferred

Required Skills

  • Experience owning or managing relationships with bank partners and/or rating agencies
  • Proficiency with structured finance/credit analytics platforms and programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, SQL) preferred
  • Experience in financial cash flow modeling for securitization transactions in Excel
  • Comfort managing legal documentation and coordinating with outside counsel on funding transactions
  • Strong portfolio analytics skills, including forecasting, utilization tracking, and performance reporting
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Exposure to legal documents such as offering memorandums, offering circulars, indentures, and private placement memorandums is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet client deadlines

  • Some relevant working experience in the following areas is a plus: mortgage and asset-backed securities, accounting firms, corporate trust, mortgage banking, loan servicing, fixed income investments, or rating agencies

Compensation: $125,000-$175,000

Equal Opportunity

We are committed to equal opportunity employment and embrace diversity within our organization. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

We encourage candidates to apply even if their experience doesn't precisely match this opportunity. We value diversity and are dedicated to equal opportunity employment.
