Position Summary

The Nautilus Solar Energy Capital Markets Associate will be responsible for executing project financings and strategic analysis to support the development of Nautilus’ expanding solar portfolio. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong financial modeling background.  The position [JE1] is a fully remote opportunity with occasional travel.


Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Modeling:

  • Build and maintain complex financial models, including project finance models, DCF analysis, and valuation assessments
  • Evaluate investment opportunities from a quantitative and qualitative perspective including valuation modeling, scenario analysis, and review of portfolio risks and opportunities
  • Prepare quarterly valuation of a 200+ project portfolio of operating and development assets, understanding complex quarter-over-quarter impacts for detailed presentation to Executive Team
  • Develop process-oriented models and marketing materials for debt and tax equity origination efforts, weigh the pros and cons of various structures and term sheets, and support term negotiations

Strategic and Executive Analysis:

  • Produce scenario-driven memos and presentations for Board meetings
  • Assess strategic opportunities, asset divestitures, and financial restructurings of operating portfolios
  • Track changes to state and federal policies / law, detailing potential impacts to both operating and development asset economics

Project Financing

  • Assist team in structuring and negotiating project financing agreements, including tax equity, construction debt, and term debt facilities
  • Coordinate with lenders, investors, and other financial stakeholders to secure project funding.
  • Support closing of new project financing activity through dataroom preparation and diligence management
  • Facilitate ongoing construction, term, and tax equity funding activity of projects throughout various development stages

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Cost Estimation: Review and support detailed cost estimates and budgets for project development phases.
  • Financial Tracking: Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints

Collaboration and Communication

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, finance, and legal teams to ensure cohesive project development.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders on project status and developments.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or a related field. Experience in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in financial modeling, analysis, and valuation of infrastructure or energy projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in financial modeling software (e.g., Excel) and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of project finance concepts, including debt, equity, and tax equity structures.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy financing mechanisms, such as power purchase agreements (PPAs) and tax credits.
  • Experience utilizing AI to assist with financial modeling and analysis

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and critically.

·       Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills Required
