Objective:
This role is responsible to lead give support, facilitate and establish the sourcing strategy (industry analysis, market analysis, sourcing, negotiation, and purchase) for capital investment projects aligned with Engineering and Systems teams to efficiently coordinate and manage capital goods & services acquisitions within the Kraft Heinz Procurement organization in Mexico.
Ensure procurement processes within the budget, timeframe and all technical, quality and financial requirements established for the Company's investment projects. Responsible for planning, negotiating, and monitoring strategic purchases, and daily management as well, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring compliance with internal policies, quality standards, government requirements, and financial guidelines to generate savings, increase credit days and negotiate overall the best purchasing value in every project.
Lead supplier selection and recommendation activities including qualitative/quantitative analysis, selection criteria, investment requirement long/shortlists, RFI/RFP/RFQ development, new suppliers process and bid analysis to guarantee the necessary machinery, equipment and services related on an investment project toward maintaining the processes of all the support departments. This role will be responsible for average 50 contracts management, 100 suppliers, and an average annual spend of USD 9 MM of Capex MEXICO though average 30 capital investment projects between Engineering and Technology.
Key Activities/ Deliverables:
Manage a spend of 9 MM USD annually, with a capital investment project follow-up, collaborating with the departments on the budget and project conceptions; through the creation of a cost-breakdown to identify savings opportunities and improvements WAPT and other commercial added-value conditions.
• Planning and managing Capex purchases to manage a total expenditure of $9 million USD, distributed in $6 million USD (Engineering Projects) + $3 million USD (Technology - IT Projects).
• Coordinating the procurement process for fixed assets, industrial equipment, machinery for packaging, processes and Plant automation projects plus its technical services (post-sales infrastructure), IT Technology, as well as the acquisition of civil, mechanical, electrical, and automation projects, and everything related to building construction projects, including national and international equipment, including Plant commissioning.
• Participating in annual investment planning (CAPEX) in conjunction with Finance, Engineering Projects, and Systems for the execution of each project, from the negotiation strategy to delivery and proper execution in Plant (end-to-end).
• Producing national and international macroeconomic forecasts of feedstocks related to CAPEX projects, including inflation, labour, and key inputs related to the purchase of construction projects and machinery such as steel, aluminium, electrical and automation components, etc., in conjunction with Finance, Engineering, and Systems.
• Understand, create, and manage cost structures to establish strategic negotiations with suppliers related to CAPEX (Engineering and Systems).
• Supplier development, analysis, and management of all types of suppliers involved in CAPEX projects for the various Engineering and Systems categories. Knowledge of the Kraljic matrix, and Kearney methodologies for expense analysis and supplier evaluation are desirable.
• Maintain strong business relationships with key suppliers, from the purchase of goods, machinery, or services to commissioning, including post-purchase follow-up. Strong interaction with the global international CAPEX teams for packaging machinery, process equipment, civil works, basic and detailed engineering to align local supplier selection strategies with the global International Procurement strategy.
• Apply leverage processes with global and regional contracts to obtain the best purchasing value in price, quality, delivery time, credit, and additional benefits to generate savings and improvements in credit days and meet Procurement KPIs.
• Negotiate and manage CAPEX purchasing contracts in collaboration with the Legal department and the user in accordance with KH policy.
• Ensure compliance with the bidding, negotiation, and quotation processes, starting with the creation of an RFQ, establishing the scope required for each project as established by the user. Interact with global and regional teams to align Mexico's requirements with the global strategy, primarily for process and packaging equipment.
• Generate periodic reports and presentations for the global team on CAPEX purchasing progress, savings, improved credit days, development of new suppliers, and position management.
• Generate and analyze databases for continuous improvement in position management (expense analysis in SAP). Attend and manage internal and external audits related to the position.
• Responsible for keeping daily information organized and available to support audits.
• Understand the business necessities and work with Engineering and System teams and other operative areas linked to CAPEX functions, to develop and select the best supplier for the company, taking into consideration GFA MSA, SLA (Service Level Agreement) and local contracts (where applies) to ensure every contract supports Capex needs to protect KH interests, machinery/service negotiaton, and the commercial conditions.
• Assure compliance of the suppliers in quality, price, delivery, and time through periodically meetings; and follow up on action plans in case of a quality or on-time delivery delay - Supply Security improvement plans.
• Manage agreements with CAPEX suppliers and contractors and be the main point of escalation if service levels are not met together with stakeholders. The Capex supplies are managed in SRM.
• Collaborate and pursue cost reduction initiatives to generate savings and improve processes (VA Days active participation).
• Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, best practices global, regional and local in Kraft Heinz.
• Presence in annual expos to increase industry knowledge, for market research with new suppliers and bring to the Company improvements in purchasing processes related to Capital Investment Projects for efficiency.
Competencies (experiences/ Education):
• An Industrial Engineer, Finance Engineer, or Administrator with a similar background in project management and knowledge of steel, aluminum, electronics, and automation markets everything related to the procurement of capital investment projects for food manufacturing plants and IT areas.
• A Strategic Capex Buyer with extensive experience in negotiations and development of engineering suppliers, civil engineering contractors, mechanical engineering, electronics, and automation contractors, as well as procurement of machinery and process equipment for food plants (preferably on-site, and experience in the industry and Jalisco market is desirable).
• At least 5 years of experience in capital procurement for machinery, strategic construction projects, automation of lines, process equipment, and procurement of IT systems services for IT project management.
• Strategic negotiation, market and industry analysis, and knowledge of supplier evaluation and development methodologies for mass consumption, food, or pharmaceutical production plants.
• Desirable: Work with purchasing processes in multinational companies with a focus on strategic purchasing and capital investments.
• Experience in plant audits.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in personnel management and talent development.
Skills (Knowledge/ Capabilities):
• Project Management handling and knowledge.
• Analytical, structured, with a strong sense of urgency, agile, organized, and high sense of ethics.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables) - knowledge of macros and formulas for database management and project analysis is desirable.
• Negotiation and communication skills
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Strong ability of teamwork and with local and international cross-functional teams, as well as agile and assertive decision-making
• Assertive communication, ability to work under pressure, agile, highly sense of resilience, high tolerance to frustration. Highly ethical.
• Proficiency in SAP (R-3 and/or Hanna), MRO knowledge is desirable. • Knowledge of Ariba and SRM is desirable.
• Advanced English.
