Who you are:

We are looking for Calculation / FEM-Engineer to our Qingdao Marine site of Business Unit Heat & Gas systems (BU HGS).  As a Calculation Engineer, you are working in our Power & Offshore business, and you are part of Mechanical Engineering team in Power & Offshore. You are performing FEM analysis and mechanical calculations for our customer projects and supporting Technology organization (R&D). You work in close contact with our Mechanical Engineering, Project Management and Technology organizations in Europe / Asia. You are reporting locally to BU HGS Qingdao E&S Site Manager, and you have operational dotted line to Manager of Mechanical Engineering team in Power & Offshore.

To succeed in this position, you have engineering background and experience in code calculations, FEM analysis, mechanical engineering and marine engineering or production. Our Calculation Engineer needs to perform mechanical calculations and selection of materials according to norms, standards and marine / offshore / PED / ASME class rules. You have good organizing, co-ordination and communication skills. We appreciate experience from boilers and pressure vessels. You are cooperative and able to communicate in fluent English.

About the job:

• You will work with mechanical design and calculations for boilers and boiler systems
• You are able of handling more than one complex task at a time and being involved in several calculation projects without losing your focus
• Doing calculation for boiler types based on total drawing material for approval by class societies
• Analyze mechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials to their design

• Support new and existing product development with mechanical strength calculations on pressure parts according to norms and standards
• Support with mechanical calculations for root cause analysis during claim handling
• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests from various stakeholders (technical support, documentation etc.)
• Become a specialist within marine, offshore, PED and ASME classification rules and relevant standards

• Being in contact with external stakeholders as for an example classification society.
• You have a responsibility to maintain a high level of technical know-how by constantly seeking new knowledge both internally and externally.

What you know:

• Your educational background (M.Sc./B.Sc.) from technical side
• Experience from calculations, FEM-analysis, mechanical engineering, marine engineering or production

• You must have an inclusive understanding of standard terms on drawings, and it is beneficial if you can prepare complete drawings yourself and use 3D design tools

• You have experience of mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD and Inventor.
• You have experience in strength-, flow-, thermal calculations and FEM analysis
• You have knowledge of materials and material standards

• You have an analytical mindset, and you are active, systematic and structured in your work
• You are flexible and positive to changes
• You drive for results and improvement
• Good English skill both oral and written

We appreciate

• Experience and knowledge in boiler and pressure vessel design, calculations and standards
• Experience and knowledge in marine / shipbuilding industry and marine standards
• Experience in calculation engineer position
