GENERAL SUMMARY:

The CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Designer creates precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing and engineering projects using specialized software. They act as a bridge between conceptual ideas and final production, collaborating with engineering to ensure technical accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with industry standards
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components for manufacturing purposes.
  • Work closely with team members to incorporate design requirements and ensure accuracy in drawings.
  • Review and modify existing drawings to meet project specifications and standards, ensuring all necessary information is included.
  • Generate complete BOM for parts and assemblies in the company software
  • Customer order entry
  • QC of parts to prints
  • Gather data and verify that design specifications are being met during the manufacturing process by conducting site visits
  • Organize and manage project files, including drawings, revisions, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards throughout the design and development process.
  • Investigate and resolve mechanical issues that arise during product testing, manufacturing, or customer use, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to select materials and manufacturing processes that optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of mechanical components.
  • Participate in design reviews and present technical information to stakeholders, including management and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in relevant technologies, proactively applying new knowledge to enhance product development.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design required; Electrical design experience is a plus
  • Expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and optimization
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software and other relevant engineering tools
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in designing for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
  • Solid understanding of material properties and mechanical behavior
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines related to electrical components and systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written

Skills Required

  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software
  • Experience creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing
  • Ability to generate complete BOMs for parts and assemblies
  • Experience with designing for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
  • Solid understanding of material properties and mechanical behavior
