Role Overview
Story Renovations is seeking an experienced Cabinet Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for creating accurate cabinet layouts, detailed shop drawings, and production-ready designs for kitchen, bath, mudroom, laundry, bar, and custom cabinetry projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience using 20/20 Design software, understands cabinetry construction and installation requirements, and can collaborate closely with project managers, designers, installers, and clients to ensure designs are both beautiful and buildable.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed cabinet layouts and elevations using 20/20 Design software
Produce accurate cabinet shop drawings and installation-ready plans
Develop floor plans, elevations, renderings, and cabinetry specifications
Verify measurements and ensure all designs fit field conditions
Design kitchens, bathrooms, closets, entertainment centers, bars, and other custom cabinetry solutions
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and subcontractors to keep plans production ready
Coordinate cabinet orders, modifications, and revisions with manufacturers and vendors
Identify potential design or construction conflicts before production
Support field teams with technical clarification during installation
Qualifications
3+ years of cabinet design experience preferred
Strong proficiency in 20/20 Design software
Experience producing cabinet shop drawings and cabinetry plans
Understanding of residential remodeling and construction practices
Ability to read architectural and construction drawings
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience with NKBA standards, 17 Squares, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus
Compensation, Benefits & Retirement
$80,000 – $90,000 base plus commissions and SPIFFs
