Background
UniOps Tax Operations team in Unilever is responsible for collection / analysis of tax and finance data, performing tax compliance activities, supporting group tax reporting and tax audit in the areas related to VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax and transfer pricing. The team is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the tax control framework and driving best practices and continuous improvement.
Main purpose of job
The Global Tax function has launched the Future of Tax (FOT) transformation project under the Digital Finance umbrella. As part of the Future of Tax project, compliance work related to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing is delivered by the Commercial Experience team under a new Target Operating Model (TOM), spanning the Global Tax team, Country Tax team, UniOps and 3rd party consultants (Big 4s).
The CA Intern will support the Tax Data COE by assisting with data extraction, reconciliations, compliance preparation and documentation, gaining hands-on exposure across direct and indirect tax processes while contributing to a world-class, standardized and technology-enabled tax operation.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
Support in computation of VAT / GST and Withholding Tax and assist in preparation of periodic returns (e.g., GSTR-1, GSTR-3B).
Assist in rule-based calculations related to CIT tax provision, advance tax and quarterly group reporting under review of seniors.
Build understanding of underlying accounting entries related to tax and support variance analysis.
Assist in ensuring tax-related payments and filings are prepared within statutory timelines across respective countries.
Help gather documentation / data support for audit queries and prepare working papers with the analysis performed.
Support archiving of documents for all tax-related activities – from data extraction till filing – in dedicated folders as per ITGC & audit requirements.
Provide clarification / data support to relevant stakeholders under guidance.
Contribute to continuous improvement ideas and help deploy simple tools / automation to drive process efficiencies.

Technical Skills
Exposure to Direct Tax / Indirect Tax (GST) / Withholding Tax through articleship or internship.
Fair knowledge of accounting and financial statements
Working / end-user knowledge of ERP systems; awareness of SAP (FI module) is an advantage.
Strong MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Power Query, Lookup / Index-Match); awareness of Power BI is an added advantage.
Soft Skills
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Educational Qualifications
CA Finalist completed one year of Articleship in Audit firm and currently pursuing CA and joining for Industrial Trainee for 2nd year
Prior articleship experience in Taxation, Accounting (R2R) or Direct / Indirect Tax preferred.

Skills Required
- CA Finalist with one year of completed articleship in an audit firm
- Currently pursuing Chartered Accountancy and joining as an Industrial Trainee for the second year
- Exposure to direct tax, indirect tax/GST, or withholding tax through articleship or internship
- Knowledge of accounting and financial statements
- Working or end-user knowledge of ERP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, Lookup, and Index-Match
