Maxar is looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement and Subcontracts team in Herndon, VA.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

• Responsibilities involve managing all stages of the procurement life cycle, to include RFQ's, receiving quotes, development and negotiation of favorable prices, terms, schedules and other provisions of purchase orders, subcontracts, and other contract types, ensuring consistency with end-user requirements and procurement policies/procedures.
• Will have autonomy for the assigned area of responsibility and act as staff professional for company and government regulatory practices and policies for procurement acquisition activities.
• Purchase order and file maintenance
• Closeout for all procurement related activities and supplier customer management, including negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms and other contract provisions
• Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules
• Recommends suppliers based on gathered information and may also recommend improvements to procurement processes and procedures
• Assume other responsibilities as requested in support of departmental goals and priorities

Minimum requirements for this position:

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• 2 years of industry experience with Federal Government Procurement and/or Subcontracting
• A Bachelors Degree. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
• Previous experience in Sourcing roles/Supply Chain roles in a Government Procurement environment with FAR and DFAR experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Outlook

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $65,000.00 - $109,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
