Position Overview
As our innovative business continues to rapidly grow, we are seeking a full-time Buyer to answer to the growing needs of GFS Specialty Company, Fresh Start Foods in Richmond, BC.
The Buyer is in charge of analyzing, negotiating and making deals. The successful candidate will research, evaluate, and buy the best quality products for the company – either to resell the products or to use for production. They are responsible for maintaining accurate cost records, product life-cycle management, and managing fully landed product costs. Acts as the divisional resource for inventory and supplier related business needs (primary supplier contact).
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position will be 4 days in the office, 1 day from home.
Salary: $50,000-75,000 per year, plus bonus based on performance
Duties and Responsibilities
Sourcing and purchasing food products, Including packaging
Negotiating contracts and product costs
Analyzing market trends
Managing inventory levels
Collaborating with other departments (Warehousing, Fleet, Production, and Sales.)
Managing vendor relationships and performance
Optimizing purchasing processes
Forecasting demand
Managing documentation
Ensuring compliance with company policies
Leading initiatives for specific category assignment
Driving cost saving initiatives
Other duties as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience in purchasing/buying is an asset.
Produce industry experience is an asset.
Proficient computer skills.
Effective communication in an open and direct manner; conveys information clearly and concisely, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter who thrives on working in a fast paced environment.
Strong attention to details.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Accountable and dependable.
