The Position

Primary Purpose of Job (Job Summary)

●          Ensures the effective functioning of the teams to deliver strategic goals for the site and the network. Drives the definition, deployment and execution of the site strategy, facilitating operational excellence, and fostering a high-performance culture.

●          Drives business improvement and digital transformation by leading continuous improvement teams, overseeing optimization projects, managing stakeholder communication, and adopting suitable digital tools and technologies. Interacts closely with employees to proactively identify constraints and opportunities for continuous improvement.

●          Construct efficient and transparent communication mechanisms to enhance organizational cohesion and ensure high synergy among internal and external stakeholders. Implement communication strategies to optimize channels, ensure content consistency, engage stakeholders, and drive internal communications and employee engagement, while developing and maintaining a site-wide learning and development strategy to ensure employees have the capabilities to meet business objectives and compliance requirements.

Drives collaboration within the site and across network activities, cross-functional planning, project management and decision making.

Principle Roles & Responsibilities / Accountabilities

1. Strategic Planning & Execution (Strategy Deployment)

●        Strategic Sparring Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to the Site Head and SLT, providing insights on business, organizational, and operational strategies.

●        Strategy Realization: Lead the development, cascading, and monitoring of the Site Business Plan and long-term roadmap. Ensure alignment with the global Pharma Technical (PT) network strategy.

●        Goal Setting & KPIs: Determine and prioritize site-level goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Deploy visual management systems to effectively measure performance and drive accountability.

●        Governance: Orchestrate Site Leadership Team (SLT) meetings, Strategic Days, and Business Reviews. Manage agendas, facilitate discussions, and ensure follow-up on critical decisions.

●        Serves as a core member of the site leadership team and participates in network strategic discussion and teams to share and receive learnings and best practices across the board. Serves as the primary site contact for the network strategy planning and deployment activities.

2. Business Support & Operations Management

●        Business Support Council: Lead the cross-functional Business Support Council to centralize and align site support activities, acting as a key decision-making agent.

●        Project Portfolio Management: Oversee the site’s Project Portfolio, including CAPEX, technical transfers, and business projects. Ensure resources are identified to efficiently execute against strategic priorities.

●        Risk & Continuity Management: Oversee Site Business Continuity Management and Risk Management processes to ensure organizational resilience.

●        Executes complex and cross functional initiatives/projects across the Roche Network in a timely manner. leads cross-functional projects that are integral to the development and implementation of our strategy.

●        Decision Support: Prepare decision papers, scenario analyses, and executive presentations for the site head and SLT to facilitate efficient decision-making at local and global levels.

3. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

●           Lean Leadership: Champion the implementation of the Lean Production System (LPS). Lead the LPS Steering Committee to drive full realization of lean standards (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, Cost).

4. Communications, Culture & Change Management

●        Communication Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive site-wide communication strategies. Manage channels to ensure consistency of messaging and effective information flow to all employees.

●        Culture Building: Embed the "OneRoche" mindset and foster an inclusive culture. Drive employee engagement initiatives and act as a visible change agent, promoting agility and open mindsets.

●        Change Leadership: Drive organizational change processes. Support employees in understanding and embracing change through effective change management practices.

●        Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong bridges across geographical, cultural, and functional boundaries. Manage relationships with global network partners and external stakeholders.

5. Digitalization & Innovation

●        Digital Roadmap: Formulate and drive the site’s digital transformation roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.

●        Lead and coordinate the digital project team to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with high quality.

●        Innovation: Foster an environment of continuous innovation to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.

6. Learning & Development

●        Leads the development of learning strategy and implementation at the site e.g. learning program management and capability building.

●        Responsible for training administration and overall training at the site.

●        Align with the global Learning and development team to develop training courses, e.g. LPS related training material development and training course delivery.

7. Site Leadership Team Management

●        Act as a matrix leader and bridge between the site head and LT members to ensure consistent communication, involvement, and timely decision-making.

●        Lead and orchestrate meetings/pre-alignment for complex undertakings (e.g., Site Strategic Days, Leadership & Core Team deep dives, strategic meetings, budget workshops). Responsibilities include agenda setting, moderation, and taking minutes.

●        Lead and manage site leadership meetings: prepare agendas, ensure materials are sent in advance, ensure time is well spent, and ensure objectives are achieved. Provide guidance on agendas for broader leadership meetings led by the site head.

●        Engage with the global business operations team to connect strategic activities and align global decisions.

Drive follow-ups and retrospectives of meetings in close coordination with responsible persons to ensure●        agreed tasks are executed.

●       Create working or decision documents/materials to support the VP and SLT in their day-to-day work.

Leadership & People Management

●        Create an environment of strong team spirit, timely communication, sense of urgency, and high motivation; inspire teams to achieve immediate and long-term goals.

●        Be an active and visible change agent, promoting flexible and open mindsets toward new opportunities.

●        Embodies PT lean leadership principles and methods while fostering a continuous improvement mindset

●        Possesses strong creative leadership competencies and integrates Leadership Commitments into daily practices. Demonstrates the ability to cultivate a forward-thinking outlook, remove barriers, develop people's skills and technical capabilities, and create an environment that empowers individuals to perform at their best.

●        Build and maintain strong partnerships with other sites and network leaders to assure alignment around strategic projects and day-to-day activities and to assure mutually successful working relationships.

●        Ability to implement, coach and apply lean and agile ways of working. Develop and communicate organizational strategies, which ensure the GMP compliance of the site, continuous improvements and achievement of long-term goals

●        Enables faster identification, adoption and implementation of network changes and best practices across the network.

●        Build a culture of continuous improvement and model lean leadership principles.

Qualification and Experience

Education/Qualifications

●          Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.(Industrial engineering & management is preferred) 

Leadership Competencies

●          10 years’ work experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry

●          Of which minimum 5 years of Business Support related professional experience

●          Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement programs with quantifiable business results

●          Direct experience working with senior leadership team members, including with the site head.

 ●        Experience working in and influencing decisions in matrix organizations
