Supports both business analysis and quality assurance initiatives by capturing and understanding
business requirements, and by identifying test cases and testing the requirements.

The Opportunity: The Business Quality Analyst performs a cross-functional role that supports both Business Analysis (BA) and Quality Assurance (QA) initiatives by capturing and understanding business requirements, and by identifying test cases and testing the requirements.

  • Location: Fargo, ND, Council Bluffs, IA, Ramsey, MN, Eau Claire, MN
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days a week in the office) 
  • The salary range for this role is between $68,000 - $102,000  

Your new role  

  • Assess systems or processes for defects, gaps, or potential areas for improvement. Assist decision-makers in gathering information in order to make informed decisions.

  • Work with the business to analyze perceived business problems and/or opportunities in order to assess business needs and determine requirements.

  • Participate and collaborate in an Agile team environment. Understand the overall business flows by working with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business teams.

  • Determine appropriate sizing of user stories and break down larger stories as needed. Determine detailed acceptance criteria for final validation upon work completion.

  • Work with Product Owner to identify and understand proposed user activities or business process flow and create user stories for activities within the project.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and other project members to elicit requirements, conduct walkthroughs, guide user-acceptance testing, and train on new features or processes.

  • Produce detailed, accurate and effective documentation using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Identify, write, and execute test cases from the requirements and/or acceptance criteria, work with the Developers on bugs and issues.

  • Create and manage test plans, which includes working with SME’s, Application Development, and Project Management to ensure that test plans are completed timely. 

  • Review testing outcomes to ensure performance of technology meets expectations.

  • Regularly monitor risks and make recommendations for resolution. Ensure compliance with internal guidelines. Mitigate risks related to analysis and quality of the assigned project or product being developed.

  • Manage assignments by prioritizing tasks and adhering to deadlines to meet department objectives and individual performance metrics.

  • Build and enhance individual development and skill set by seeking educational opportunities, participating in available training and researching innovative technology and methodologies to provide strong departmental support

  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value “can do” people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity, and fun.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience

  • 2 years relevant experience

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of business analysis and quality assurance processes, procedures, and systems

  • Working knowledge of fundamental IT concepts, systems, platforms, tools and technologies, hardware, software, and services

  • Basic understanding of relevant trends and information within the industry

  • Knowledge of insurance rating, policy coverages, and endorsements

Skills

  • Ability to engage with Business Representatives of all levels and communicate in a structured and professional manner

  • Ability to understand, capture and document requirements in a structured and efficient manner, for use by architects, developers, and testers

  • Communicate information in a clear, well organized, and professional manner.

  • Current knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile management principles

  • Enthusiastic approach to team involvement

  • Follow established guidelines to focus on details and complete tasks attentively and thoroughly

  • Utilize a quantitative approach to problem solving

  • Understand the needs and goals of customers and actively look for ways to meet them

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience.
