Urban Business Operations Manager at The Crown EstatePurpose of Role
At The Crown Estate, our purpose is to create lasting and shared prosperity for the nation. As Urban Business Operations Manager, you will support the effective delivery of business operations across the Urban Strategic Business Unit, helping to drive consistency, efficiency and alignment with strategic priorities.
Working closely with Urban teams, Group functions, joint venture partners and external stakeholders, you will help enable delivery of the Urban Business Plan through robust performance monitoring, commercial oversight, risk management and governance. You will also play a key role in strengthening reporting practices, improving business processes and supporting Urban’s value creation objectives.
Context of Opportunity / Main Accountabilities
This is an opportunity to contribute to the performance and governance of a complex Urban portfolio, supporting high-quality reporting, business planning and operational delivery across Development, Real Estate and key partnerships. The role is central to ensuring Urban reporting is clear, consistent, insightful and aligned to The Crown Estate’s reputation as a trusted partner and responsible manager of third-party capital.
Key accountabilities include:
Supporting delivery of the Urban Business Plan, coordinating planning activity and monitoring progress against agreed objectives, KPIs and milestones.
Producing insightful analysis on business, portfolio and development performance, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and areas for management attention.
Coordinating internal leadership reporting cycles, maintaining reporting timetables and working with contributors to ensure high-quality outputs are delivered on time.
Building effective relationships across Urban teams, Group functions, joint venture partners and external stakeholders to gather, challenge and consolidate reporting inputs.
Supporting joint venture and partnership business planning by coordinating reporting cycles and monitoring progress against contractual obligations, objectives and milestones.
Acting as an editorial lead for joint venture and partnership reporting, ensuring reports are accurate, cohesive, insightful and aligned to a consistent narrative.
Providing secretariat support to joint venture boards and governance meetings, maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation.
Supporting Urban content for the Annual Report and wider enterprise reporting requirements, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and aligned with corporate standards.
Maintaining governance frameworks, including reporting schedules, risk registers, action logs and decision trackers, with appropriate follow-up and escalation.
Continuously improving reporting templates, processes and documentation to promote consistency, efficiency and best practice.
Most Important Skills Based Requirements
We are looking for someone who can combine strong analytical capability with excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills. You will bring:
Experience within property, real estate and/or development, with an understanding of business operations, performance reporting or governance in a complex environment.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, risks and opportunities, and turn insight into practical recommendations.
Confidence using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Copilot and Microsoft 365 applications to support analysis, reporting and decision-making.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and compelling reports for different audiences.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders while maintaining attention to detail.
A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships across internal teams, partners and external stakeholders.
Experience coordinating inputs from multiple contributors and shaping them into coherent narratives, reports and business insights.
Commercial awareness and an understanding of business drivers, performance measures and long-term value creation.
Sound judgement, discretion and accountability, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and respond positively to changing priorities.
A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance processes, reporting and ways of working.
