Western Slope Health Center is seeking a Business Office Assistant to join our team! This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys supporting a busy healthcare environment and working with a variety of departments.
The Business Office Assistant provides important administrative, clerical, and accounting support to the facility while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent customer service.
What You'll DoAdministrative & Office Support- Receive and follow schedules and instructions from your supervisor and established policies and procedures.
- Assist in organizing, planning, and directing administrative activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain minutes of meetings and file documentation as necessary.
- Serve as a key representative of the community and make an active contribution toward positive community relations, public regard, and overall awareness of the community.
- Support the Administrator, Director of Nursing (DON), and Business Office Manager with administrative tasks.
- Assist with administrative studies, projects, and special assignments as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with personnel throughout the facility and with other departments.
- Assist with recording incidents and accidents and file documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Help ensure adequate supplies of office materials and equipment are available to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the facility.
- Perform clerical and accounting functions, including cash receipts and ancillary data.
- Assist with Human Resources and payroll duties as needed.
- Utilize office equipment and computer systems to support daily operations.
- Maintain accurate and organized records and documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident care information, including Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Do not disclose resident protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of privacy or unauthorized disclosure to the Administrator.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support established workplace safety and ergonomics policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques, repetitive-task practices, and use of safety equipment and supplies.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous administrative, clerical, healthcare, business office, accounting, payroll, or HR experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a skilled nursing or healthcare environment is a plus.
The successful candidate should have the ability to:
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, residents, families, and other individuals.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to perform basic accounting and numerical functions accurately.
- Ability to work with cash receipts and related financial information.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
- Knowledge of general clerical functions and computer literacy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
- Ability to use a 10-key calculator.
- Knowledge of common office machines and equipment, including copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and computer equipment.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
