Role Purpose & Context
We are seeking a versatile and highly motivated Business Manager to support the Country Head of J.P. Morgan Asset Management France. This is a key role at the crossroads of strategy and operations, ensuring that the French business is both efficiently run on a day-to-day basis and well-positioned for long-term growth.
The Business Manager will operate on two complementary dimensions:
1. Operational management & oversight - monitoring business performance, ensuring financial and commercial data accuracy, supporting governance and risk management, and driving operational efficiency.
2. Strategic support & market intelligence - analyzing industry trends, competitor positioning, and regulatory developments, and contributing to the strategic agenda to strengthen J.P. Morgan Asset Management's market presence in France.
This role requires close interaction with the Country Head, Sales & Client Advisors, Marketing, Finance, Risk, and Compliance teams, as well as coordination with Business Managers across Europe and the wider global network.
Job Responsibilities
Operational Management & Oversight • Monitor, analyze, and ensure the accuracy of key performance indicators, including AuM, flows, revenues, margins, and costs. • Ensure sales and financial reporting are reliable, consistent, and aligned with expectations, in close partnership with Finance, MI, and Sales teams. • Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, and business reviews, ensuring consistency with group objectives. • Drive operational efficiency, identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices.
Coordinate or lead selected cross-functional projects, including regulatory initiatives, strategic reviews, and process optimization. • Participate in governance forums such as Branch Control Meetings, Business Manager forums, and local committees. • Support compliance monitoring: maintain policy handbooks, complete regulatory questionnaires, and track local regulatory developments. • Conduct risk oversight, including cross-border activity monitoring, error tracking, and remediation of incidents. • Support audit processes, follow up on action plans, and ensure controls are properly implemented. • Act as resiliency coordinator for business continuity planning and operational resilience.
2- Strategic Analysis & Market Intelligence • Conduct market and competitive intelligence: analyze competitor positioning, benchmark best practices, and identify innovative approaches. • Track and assess regulatory trends; support the dialogue with regulators (AMF) in collaboration with our compliance officer and be actively involved in industry associations (ex: AFG). • Provide input into the strategic agenda of the French business, highlighting opportunities to strengthen market share, enhance product positioning, or develop new initiatives. • Prepare high-quality presentations for senior management, covering business performance, market insights, and strategic projects.
• Act as a liaison between local teams and global functions, ensuring alignment and effective communication. • Manage vendor relationships, including due diligence, budgeting, invoicing, and service reviews for local operations.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
• Higher education degree in finance, business, or engineering with a financial specialization. • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in audit, consulting, strategy, or business management, ideally in asset management or financial services. • Strong understanding of the French asset management market, including products, distribution channels, and regulatory environment. • Demonstrated financial acumen: experience with financial analysis, sales data, P&L, and reporting. • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau; QlikView a plus). • Native-level or fluent proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken), with the ability to interact seamlessly with senior stakeholders and global teams.
• Highly organized, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management. • Analytical and critical thinker, able to structure problems and provide actionable solutions. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and impactful presentations. • Proactive, adaptable, and resilient; able to perform under pressure and to tight deadlines. • Curious and forward-looking, with a strong interest in market trends and innovation in asset management.
