JOB SUMMARY

The Muckleshoot Tribal School Business Manager supports operational and financial functions for the Tribal School. This role works under the supervision of the Tribal Education Business Operations Officer. The Business Manager monitors expenditures, manages procurement processes, and assists with school-level inventory tracking. The position helps prepare reports, communicates financial procedures, and coordinates vendor-related activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth internal processes. The Business Manager may assist with supervising staff and liaising with department managers on school operations.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors purchasing activity and maintains supply records.
  • Coordinates receiving and inventory tracking for supplies.
  • Oversees school-level procurement operations and systems.
  • Plan, implement, & monitor logistics for MTS athletics & Activities including travel arrangements.
  • Oversee grant spending and compliance for Muckleshoot Tribal School.
  • Assists in preparing expenditure summaries and reports.
  • Recommends updates to financial procedures and tools.
  • Tracks vendor agreements and maintains supporting documentation.
  • Develops specifications for supplies and equipment orders.
  • Provides support to administrative teams on operational needs.
  • Maintains compliance with internal control procedures.
  • Supports vendor communications and contract documentation.
  • Maintains accurate school inventory documentation.
  • Helps implement improvements to procurement systems.
  • Advises staff on routine purchasing procedures.
  • Participates in school meetings regarding resource needs.
  • Ensures secure and organized file maintenance.
  • Follow all MIT policies and procedures set forth in the Governmental Personnel Policies and Procedures.

  • EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting is required.• Two years of relevant experience in school operations or financial coordination is required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The position is largely office-based and requires frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment. It involves prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional walking and standing during school walkthroughs or inventory checks. Hand dexterity is regularly used for writing, typing, and handling files or equipment. The position may require lifting items up to 50 pounds such as supply boxes or equipment. Clear vision and the ability to focus on documents and screens are required. Verbal communication and active listening are necessary for working with school staff and community members. Noise levels are typically low but may increase during periods of student activity or large staff coordination. Driving between buildings or to vendors may be occasionally required.

    Licenses or Certifications RequiredA valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
