The Role

Business Manager to the Head of WB EMEA

We are seeking a highly organized and delivery-oriented Business Manager to support the Head of WB EMEA and the EMEA Management Team. Reporting directly to the Head of WB EMEA your role will involve designing, executing and monitoring internal and external organisational processes to facilitate smooth and efficient operations.

The team

As a Business Manager for WB EMEA, you will be working closely with the Head of WB EMEA - Eva Smolen, WB EMEA Country Heads, EMEA Products & Sectors, Support, and Staff Functional Heads.

EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) is the largest of Wholesale Banking’s (WB) three regions, contributing to approximately 75% of WB revenues and assets, and with a physical presence in 23 countries. These countries include the Market Leaders, Challenger and Growth Markets and countries with Wholesale Banking business only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a sparring partner, sounding board, and trouble shooter for the Head of WB EMEA and the EMEA MT in day-to-day activities.
  • Set strategic goals, drive and coordinate related plans and presentations, including alignment and coordination with countries and functions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other strategic documents for WB MT, EMEA MT, and other key EMEA forums.
  • Ensure quality and optimization of EMEA management information towards different stakeholders.
  • Act as a linking pin and coordinator of activities related to regulatory, risk, and compliance-related activities.
  • Involvement in the coordination of the Dynamic Plan and regional alignment, liaising with the Finance department regarding Management Information and data quality.
  • Involvement in the coordination of KPI target setting and monitoring to ensure regional alignment, liaising with the Finance, HR and EMEA Transformation department regarding Management Information and data quality.
  • Prepare communications, presentations, and briefing notes on various topics, including team meetings, townhalls, and offsites.
  • Perform project-based tasks upon the request of the manager and/or EMEA MT.
  • Highlight opportunities, analyse problems, and follow up on these matters.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 7 years professional experience in working with senior management
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, a structured way of working, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Clear, concise thinker and communicator who can synthesize information quickly and disseminate actionable insights.
  • High organizational sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships and manage networks.
  • Skilled in preparing inspiring presentations and briefings in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Strong resilience and ability to navigate through ambiguity.
  • A ‘can do’ mentality, proactive, resourceful, accurate, and capable of creating buy-in and engagement at different levels of the organization.
  • Interested in challenging the status quo and eager to propose creative solutions to problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
