The role helps Moxie build internal analytics tools that help teams make faster, better decisions with trusted data. This is a fully onsite position working out of the Irving, Texas HQ.

A core focus of this position is writing the SQL that builds our reporting tables and calculations, building the web applications that put that data in front of people, and raising the standard for how we visualize data and design the user experience.

Responsibilities

  • SQL Development and Performance:
    • Write and tune SQL, including stored procedures and pre-aggregated load procedures, to meet performance targets (p95 under 1 second).
    • Handle report tickets and small data extracts.
  • Data Modeling and Semantic Layer:
    • Build fact and dimension tables and semantic-layer calculations (live and daily sources), sharing that work with Engineering.
    • Own extensions to the semantic layer and the applications built on it.
    • Validate new reports against existing reports and document metric definitions.
  • Web Application Development:
    • Build and maintain internal web applications (Python/Flask backends, JavaScript and D3 front ends).
    • Review AI-assisted code for correctness, performance, and security before it ships.
  • Data Visualization and User Experience:
    • Choose the right chart, layout, and interaction for each question, and turn business requests into clear, accurate, easy-to-read interfaces that follow our brand standards.
    • Set visualization and UX standards for the team and coach other developers on them.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with Engineering, which owns ingestion, pipelines, and raw tables, on shared fact and dimension table work.
    • Explain metric logic and design decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
