Role Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization. This role will partner closely with teams across Ecommerce, Marketing, Operations, Product Development, and Leadership to improve reporting capabilities, support data-driven initiatives, and identify opportunities to drive business performance.

In addition to reporting and analytics responsibilities, this role will play a key part in improving Maxwood’s data ecosystem through software enhancements, in-house data solutions, and AI-driven initiatives designed to increase efficiency and reduce analytical bottlenecks.

The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, and technology-minded, with a passion for solving business challenges through data and automation.

Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Monitor business performance across the organization through full-funnel KPIs, trend and seasonality analyses, and ad hoc reporting related to capital requirements, resource allocation, channel projections, and strategic initiatives.

  • Analyze data from multiple business functions to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.

  • Develop actionable insights and recommendations that support business growth and operational efficiency.

Data Solutions & Innovation

  • Own initiatives focused on improving the existing software stack, building in-house data solutions, and implementing AI-driven solutions to existing analytical bottlenecks.

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, streamline workflows, and improve access to business data.

  • Support the development of scalable analytics processes and infrastructure.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with teams including Channel Management, Product Development, Operations, Marketing, Inventory, and Leadership to support the development and implementation of data-driven initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment between reporting, business objectives, and organizational priorities.

  • Communicate insights, recommendations, and performance updates to stakeholders across the organization.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Utilize existing data infrastructure to build, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards that support key business initiatives.

  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) between the Analytics team and dependent departments.

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reporting integrity across systems.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support company vision, values, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, and confidentiality standards.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business, Marketing, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in an analyst, business intelligence, analytics, or data-related role.

  • Strong understanding of data-driven business strategy and performance measurement.

  • Experience working with ecommerce platforms and analytics tools such as Shopify, GA4, or similar technologies.

  • Proficiency with reporting and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a quantitative mindset.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload based on business needs.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and manage changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within an ecommerce or omnichannel retail environment.

  • Knowledge of or experience with ecommerce marketplaces.

  • Experience supporting data automation, AI initiatives, or business process optimization projects.

  • Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, ETL processes, or data warehouse concepts.
