General Purpose

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the bank.  The BI Analyst collaborates with business units (Lending, Finance, Risk, Marketing, and Operations) to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable information is available to support strategic and community-focused initiatives.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Transforms raw data into meaningful insights through the design, development, and maintenance of reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics solutions. 
  • Consults with business units to identify data needs, potential solutions, and further reporting possibilities.
  • Collaborates with business units to design business intelligence presentations form ad-hoc report to Microsoft Power BI dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Analyzes data from disparate databases or data sources to produce dashboards, metrics, or insights to identify trends or anomalies.
  • Evaluates existing business unit reports and recommends new technologies or enhancements that have the potential to improve business units information for data driven decisions.
  • Coordinates with business units for testing, quality assurance, and ensure functionality of dashboards or other presentations are acceptable.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment across all reporting platforms.
  • Uses advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work and improve processes.
  • Participates in the development of the organization’s long-term BI strategy.
  • Works closely with all business units throughout the bank. 
  • Work closely with other teams in Finance and business units in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete training to stay current on recent technology, banking, and analytic trends.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Understanding of Finance and Accounting principles as they relate to banking. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Fabric for database design, query and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of SQL scripting.  
  • Leadership, creativity, and judgment.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to foster teamwork.
  • Communications skills with the ability to work diplomatically and skillfully.
  • Ability to make informed decisions at level of responsibly. 
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work with multiple business units, utilizing technology as the bridge between them.
  • Project management.

Education or Formal Training:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Business or equivalent industry certifications.
  • Two or more years working with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License is required.

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience as business analyst or business Intelligence.

Working Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular basis may be necessary.  

Physical Environment

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25.
