This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. Duties and responsibilities may change based on organizational and business needs.

About the Role

PGS is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Business Development Specialist to help expand our partnerships with long-term care communities throughout our growing service areas.

In this role, you will identify and engage prospective facility partners, build relationships with key decision-makers, and create new opportunities for PGS to bring behavioral health services to residents in nursing homes, assisted living communities, independent living communities, and other long-term care settings.

This is a highly collaborative, outreach-focused position ideal for someone who enjoys developing new relationships, working independently in the field, and turning prospective opportunities into long-term partnerships.

What You’ll Do
  • Research, identify, and qualify prospective long-term care facility partners within your assigned territory.

  • Build relationships with facility leaders and key decision-makers through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, networking, and in-person visits.

  • Generate qualified leads and schedule presentations with prospective partners and the VP of Business Development.

  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective facility partnerships.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of leads, outreach activity, customer interactions, and pipeline progress within the CRM.

  • Monitor market activity, industry trends, and prospective customer needs to identify new business opportunities.

  • Partner closely with the Regional Liaison/Account Management team to ensure a seamless transition from signed partnership through facility onboarding.

  • Represent PGS professionally within the long-term care and healthcare communities.

  • Meet established business development KPIs, including outreach activity, qualified presentations, signed facilities, and successfully launched partnerships.

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, conduct outreach, and develop new business relationships.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within an assigned territory.

  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage goals and performance metrics.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare, or a related field.

  • Business development or sales experience within long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, senior care, or behavioral health.

  • Existing familiarity with long-term care facility operations and decision-makers.

  • Experience managing a geographic sales or business development territory.

Territory & Travel

This is a territory-based position requiring approximately 25%–75% travel, primarily for local and regional facility visits, meetings, networking, and relationship development. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Candidates must reside in or near one of the following markets:

  • Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh, Central Pennsylvania, or Philadelphia

  • Maryland: DMV area, Frederick/Carroll Counties, Baltimore, or the Maryland/Delaware region

  • Virginia: Northern Virginia

Depending on location and territory needs, administrative work may be performed remotely, in-office, or in a hybrid setting.

  • 2+ years of healthcare business development experience required.

  • Ability to successfully complete a background check as a condition of employment.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local and regional travel.
