Summary
SafetyChain Software is looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Revenue organization, reporting directly into Sales. This role serves as a critical extension of the sales team, responsible for engaging prospective buyers, qualifying early-stage interest, and generating high-quality pipeline for our Account Executives.
This is an entry point into a clearly defined sales career at SafetyChain, not just a transactional role. From day one, BDRs are developed with progression in mind. High performers are expected to advance to Senior BDR within approximately 12 months, taking on increased responsibility, deeper pipeline ownership, and higher compensation.
Senior BDRs who consistently demonstrate strong performance, deal acumen, and executive presence may enter SafetyChain’s structured BDR → AE development pathway, designed to prepare top talent for future Account Executive roles through real deal exposure, coaching, and readiness assessments aligned to our sales standards.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR), you will play a critical role in generating pipeline by sourcing and engaging ideal customers for SafetyChain. This role is responsible for identifying, researching, and proactively reaching out to senior-level stakeholders through thoughtful, personalized outbound outreach.
Your focus will be on initiating high-quality conversations, tailoring messaging to executive priorities, uncovering business challenges, and setting well-qualified discovery meetings for our Account Executives.

Core Responsibilities
- Proactively source and engage outbound prospects aligned to SafetyChain’s ideal customer profile
- Research target accounts and customize emails and messaging for senior executives
- Execute outbound outreach across phone, email, and LinkedIn with consistency and intention
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect challenges, priorities, and buying context
- Qualify opportunities based on defined criteria and schedule high-quality discovery calls for Account Executives
- Maintain accurate activity tracking, notes, and lead status within HubSpot CRM
- Partner closely with Account Executives to ensure strong handoffs and feedback loops
- Collaborate with Marketing to align on messaging, target segments, and market insights
- Continuously refine outreach strategy, objection handling, and executive-level positioning
Performance Expectations
- Activity Targets: Approximately 50-80 outreach activities (calls, emails, LinkedIn touches) per day.
- SQL Goal: Aim to generate 5 qualified sales opportunities per month.
- Pipeline Quality: Strong show rates, clean qualification, and accurate CRM hygiene
- Messaging Quality: Clear, relevant, and personalized communication tailored to senior decision-makers

Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in sales, business development, or sales-adjacent roles (BDR, SDR, inside sales, account management, or quota-carrying roles.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect outbound, manage a daily activity cadence, and generate pipeline against clear performance targets
- Coachable and growth-oriented; receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, follow-ups, and priorities simultaneously
- Confident, professional communicator who can engage senior-level stakeholders with clarity and credibility
- Able to build rapport quickly while keeping conversations focused on business outcomes
- Comfortable learning and using modern sales tools (e.g., HubSpot, ZoomInfo, Sales Navigator, Outreach); prior experience with these tools is a plus
- Proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of outcomes and adapts quickly when something isn’t working
- Motivated to grow within a sales and revenue organization and develop deeper industry expertise over time
