We are excited to present an opportunity to join our Vision Care team as a Business Development Representative. This role requires a dynamic and motivated individual who excels at connecting with the market, pursuing, and gaining new business, whilst providing technical product support & developing partnerships with our customers within a team-oriented focus. The individual will be responsible for the sales, business growth, support, promotion, and in-depth education of ZEISS Vision Care products including vision technology solutions to various customer segments in the ANZ market.

This full-time role is in field based, (not office based), requiring the BDR to be well organised in territory planning and implementation. Daily activities include travel within the territory, face to face meetings, virtual meetings, and education sessions (including via phone, digital). Travel across New Zealand and to Australia are required with occasional extended hours events and weekend events such as trade shows. ZEISS will consider applicants from Christchurch, Wellington and surrounding areas

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Growth of sales with existing ZEISS customers & growing market share by winning new practices
  • Achieving and exceeding sales targets and hands-on experience employing multiple sales techniques
  • Identify potential customers through research, networking and outreach
  • Deliver comprehensive product and application training across ANZ on a suite of ZEISS ophthalmic lenses, optical testing equipment, and optical dispensing equipment which will include installation and basic user training both virtually and in person.
  • Provide thorough and ongoing sales, product, and application training & business support to staff across all levels of an optical practice from front-line staff to Dispensers to Optometrists.
  • Secure new opportunities and expand existing business by way of providing sales support as well as application and user training on a range of ZEISS Vision Care products.
  • Provide prospective customers with accurate product information and sensible solutions, which best address their needs. This includes but is not limited to product planning for installation and onboarding.
  • Support key account practices in reaching and maintaining their KPIs by providing product, sales, clinical, and troubleshooting support.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external conferences and training workshops as required.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Optical sales or/and an Optometrist, Orthoptist, or Optical Dispenser with an associated qualification in the field.
  • A strong clinical and application knowledge of the ophthalmic/optometry discipline.
  • An excellent ability to teach and translate clinical & dispensing knowledge to customers.
  • Literacy in CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) advantageous and MS Office suite is essential.
  • Be able to adjust your approach to suit customer experience and knowledge to achieve desired outcome.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, while delivering training & application support independently to the highest standards.
  • Excellent questioning skills, communication, negotiation skills, analytical skills and ability to deliver engaging presentations & thorough training
  • Valid passport, driver’s license, reliable motor vehicle and able to travel internationally and across New Zealand.
  • Be prepared to travel extensively across NZ and occasionally international
