About the role

We are seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager to join our Crown Sales team in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, this is a pivotal role focused on driving new business acquisition and sustainable revenue growth. You will be responsible for building a strong pipeline of opportunities across the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events) segment, identifying high-value prospects, and converting them into long-term partnerships.

You’ll act as a brand ambassador for Crown—developing strategic relationships, representing us at key industry events, and unlocking opportunities across the Crown properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business growth by identifying, targeting, and converting high-value opportunities aligned to revenue strategy

  • Build and maintain a strong, forward-looking pipeline through proactive prospecting and lead generation

  • Collaborate with Sales Managers to maximise conversion and revenue outcomes

  • Represent Crown at trade shows, networking events, and industry functions to generate leads and build brand presence

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to inform sales strategies

  • Maintain a deep understanding of Crown’s hotels, events, and integrated offerings

  • Effectively manage CRM systems to ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and client insights

  • Mentor and support junior team members to build capability and drive team performance

  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key external partners

  • Contribute to achieving revenue targets across accommodation and events segments

  • Analyse and report on pipeline performance, lead conversion, and revenue outcomes

  • Identify and leverage cross-property opportunities across Crown’s national portfolio

About You

You are a results-driven, relationship-focused sales professional with a passion for winning new business and delivering commercial impact.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development or account management within a hotel or MICE environment

  • Strong understanding of MICE market dynamics and trends

  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and driving new business growth

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for reporting and analysis

  • Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management

  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and mentor across teams

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Hospitality, Business, or a related discipline
