Company

Sixone’s mission is to enable a world where blended plastics products can be circularly recycled back into existing supply chains instead of being sent to landfill. Sixone is developing technologies to enable advanced recycling of blended plastics and plastic-based products. The company’s technology applies process digitalization and advanced analytics to build a depolymerization reactor tailored to enable efficient plastics recycling. The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Commercialization to drive our market expansion. This is a high-autonomy role designed for a builder who thrives at the intersection of deep-tech R&D and global commerce. You will be the primary bridge between our technical prototyping team and external stakeholders, translating Sixone’s R&D milestones into compelling commercial partnerships and non-dilutive funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership Development: Identify and secure high-impact partnerships across the plastics, textiles, and circularity ecosystems. Manage the full lifecycle from cold outreach to technical integration and contract execution.

  • Funding & Grant Strategy: Lead the identification and end-to-end application process for government grants and innovation funds. Work closely with the R&D and Engineering team to translate technical specifications into winning proposals.

  • Commercial Roadmap: Manage prospecting, proposal development, and high-stakes negotiations for new business units.

  • Technical Storytelling: Collaborate with engineering and leadership to create credible marketing and pitch assets. You must be able to translate "lab-bench" concepts into clear, ROI-driven value propositions for corporate partners.

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitive R&D activity to inform our commercial prioritization and technology roadmap.

  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Sixone at major industry conferences and partner summits across Canada and the US.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: 2–4+ years in business development, partnerships, or B2B sales—ideally within the ClimateTech or CleanTech sector

  • Startup DNA: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D environment. You are comfortable with the "zero-to-one" phase, managing ambiguity, and pivoting based on prototyping results.

  • Technical Fluency: A strong asset is prior experience working alongside R&D and prototyping teams. You should be comfortable walking through a lab or shop floor and explaining technical hurdles to non-technical partners.

  • Communication: Exceptional writing and verbal skills; ability to engage everyone from lab engineers to C-suite executives.

  • Operational Rigor: Highly organized with experience maintaining a structured CRM or partnership pipeline.

  • Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for the circular economy and a desire to see hardware solutions solve global environmental crises.

  • Logistics: Legally entitled to work in Canada, with the ability to travel frequently to the United States.
