Job Summary

Our client in the lubricants sector is seeking to recruit a highly experienced and connected Business Development Manager to fully drive Export B2B lubricant sales across West Africa on remote work bases. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing strong dealer networks, while driving sustainable revenue growth for lubricants, recycled base oils, virgin base oils, and raw materials for lube oil blending. The position requires prior travel experience across West Africa, proven experience in selling lubricants and base oils within African markets, an existing customer base, strong relationships with large lubricant importers, and the ability to work independently on the ground to build a strong regional presence. Fluency in both English and French is strongly required, and applications are open to candidates across West Africa.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive B2B export sales of lubricants, recycled base oil, virgin base oil, and raw materials.
  •  Identify, appoint, and manage distributors, dealers, and importers across West Africa.
  • Grow existing business and ensure sustainable long-term sales.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to negotiation, closing, delivery, and payment follow-up.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with blending plants, industrial users, traders and distributors.
  • Conduct market research, monitor competitors, pricing trends, and customer demand.
  •  Expand channel sales and penetrate new market segments.
  • Oversee export operations including logistics, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports, customer analysis, and forecast reports.
  • Support management in pricing strategy, product development, and P&L improvements.
  • Manage junior business development team members located across Africa.



Requirements

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field. MBA in International Business is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5–6 years experience in B2B sales within the lubricants, base oils, oilfield chemicals, or industrial chemicals sector.
  •  Must be highly experienced in selling lubricants, recycled base oil, and virgin oil to African markets.
  • Proven track record of sales growth in African markets is mandatory.
  • Strong existing network of importers, distributors, traders, and industrial clients.
  • Solid understanding of export operations, logistics, customs, and international trade procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  •  Must be able to work independently on the ground and build a strong regional presence.
  • Strong understanding of lubricant blending plants, industrial end-users, distribution channels, and lubricant quality grades, applications, and consumption patterns within African markets.

 

REQUIREMENT

  • Must be available to join immediately.
  • Hands-on sales experience in the Solvents/Raw materials and Chemical industry.
  • Must have access to essential tools including a mobile phone, laptop, printer, and car, along with a valid driving license.
  • Must have previous extensive travel experience across West Africa.
  • Willingness to travel 50–70% across West Africa.
  • Fluency in English and French.
