Business Development Executive
We are recruiting three Insurance Business Development Executives (BDEs) to grow Marsh’s SME commercial segment in Witham and Worcester.
Each BDE will focus on direct-to-client acquisition and the fast, repeatable placement of commercial risks with premiums between £5,000 and £20,000. The role prioritises Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines, requiring strong prospecting, quoting, and disciplined pipeline management.
You’ll manage your own schedule and priorities — an independent role with lots of freedom and ownership.
This is a hybrid role requiring you to work at least four days a week on the road or in the office.
Possibility to work from our Bristol office.
We will count on you to:
New business: Source, qualify and convert direct client opportunities (£5k–£20k).
Fast sales: Move deals quickly with disciplined qualification, quoting and follow-up.
Smooth handover: Provide clear handovers to servicing teams and support retention in month 0–12.
Market intel: Feed insurer appetite and market insight into product development.
Relationships: Build direct client and introducer/referral partnerships that drive leads.
Compliance: Keep accurate records and follow Marsh policies.
What you need to have:
12+ months in commercial insurance sales (broker/MGA/insurer) with proven results.
Great at winning new business and keeping a steady pipeline for high-volume, low-prem accounts.
Know Commercial Combined, Contractors and similar lines in the £5k–£20k band.
Comfortable with quoting portals, open-market placements, delegated authority or panel work.
Brilliant at prospecting, owning your diary and hitting targets.
Strong negotiator, numerate and commercial-minded.
Full UK driving license and happy to travel locally.
