The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing new business and growing customer relationships within the domestic transportation and freight brokerage market.
This role is ideal for an experienced transportation sales professional with an established network and strong understanding of domestic freight who can identify opportunities, develop long-term customer relationships, and provide reliable transportation solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new business through prospecting, referrals, industry relationships, and an existing professional network
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of domestic freight brokerage opportunities
- Sell transportation solutions including truckload, LTL, expedited, dedicated, and other domestic transportation services
- Develop and grow long-term relationships with shippers and key decision-makers
- Identify additional opportunities within existing accounts to increase revenue and shipment volume
- Collaborate closely with operations and carrier teams to ensure successful onboarding and consistent execution
- Understand customer transportation challenges and develop solutions based on service, capacity, pricing, and operational needs
- Represent Sciens Logistics at customer meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline information, and sales reporting
- Experience: 3+ years of sales experience within domestic transportation, freight brokerage, or third-party logistics
- Proven ability to develop and grow a book of business
- Existing relationships or network within the transportation and shipping industry strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of domestic truckload and freight brokerage
- Demonstrated success in new business development and account growth
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently develop new business opportunities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant industry experience strongly considered

Skills Required
- 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding sales or international logistics
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Understanding of Incoterms, NVOCC operations, international trade lanes, LCL/FCL, and customs brokerage
- Strong client relationship skills and consultative selling ability
- Familiarity with CRMs such as Salesforce and HubSpot
