Business Development Manager

Reporting to the Director of Broker Distribution, the Business Development Manager is a professional, driven sales performer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and delivers on their targets.  The role manages a number of our top strategic broker partners, developing and strengthening effective business relationships to create opportunity and deliver long-term, profitable sales growth.


What will you do?

  • Strategic management of broker relationships, acting as a main point of contact for our top brokers.
  • Monitor and analyze broker performance and profitability, leading negotiations during opportunity discussions. 
  • Perform regular reporting on broker insights, address market trends, and plan for your monthly business performance reviews. 
  • Delivery of business consultancy and sales planning with brokers including clear expectations about strategy, growth and profitability tactics.
  • Managing execution of personal lines portfolio transfers, blocks of business and growth deals, including documentation, underwriting activation, trouble shooting and performance monitoring.
  • With a focus on Commercial Lines, continuous management of individual pipeline, assessing opportunities for growth with distribution partners, reporting throughout the year on status.
  • Continuous monitoring of business opportunities for Gore including M&A, new appointments, growth agreements, loans & financing.
  • Retention management and execution of defensive strategies to protect existing volume from competitor threats.
  • Deployment and management of sales incentives / campaigns within broker offices including marketing materials, performance monitoring, reporting and reward programs.
  • Special activities to support profitable growth, including commercial growth initiatives, sales performance management and broker training.
  • Monitor market dynamics, gather intelligence on competitor products, pricing and compensation and communicate to Gore stakeholders.
  • Participation in the planning and execution of Gore events and professionally represent Gore at relevant industry functions.


What will you need to succeed?

  • A minimum of 5 years, Insurance related experience in a business development position
  • A minimum of 2 years, P&C Underwriting experience preferred
  • A minimum of 5+ years, experience in Relationship management of brokers and cultivating relationships with new appointments
  • Successful sales performance in a business-to-business environment
  • University or College degree or equivalent experience
  • CIP/FCIP/CRM completed or in progress is preferred
  • Excellent corporate communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze, understand and synthesize data both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to travel 60% of the time, all travel expenses are covered by Gore. Candidates must have a valid driver's licence to apply for the position.

 

*Permanent, Full-Time role. This is a remote role where you will be traveling to Brokers sites for up to 60% of your work week. You will have access to use our Downtown Toronto office or Cambridge office as needed.
