Position Summary
As the Business Development Manager, you will drive revenue growth by identifying new market opportunities, securing high-value service and supply contracts, and managing key accounts. You will act as the vital link between our production operations and buyers, translating technical material specifications into strong commercial partnerships. The Corporation's current main focus is the horticultural industry, but also provides services within the cryogenic insulation markets for construction and chemical industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Expansion: Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across diverse industrial manufacturing sectors
- Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, managing the entire sales cycle from prospecting to contract closing
- Technical Consultation: Collaborate with clients’ plant managers, quality control teams, and engineers to align our product and service specifications with their production needs
- Contract Negotiation: Standardize, structure, and negotiate agreements, pricing models, and logistics frameworks to maximize profitability
- Relationship Management: Nurture long-term partnerships with existing accounts to ensure customer retention and identify upselling opportunities
- Market Intelligence: Track industry trends, competitor activities, and raw material pricing to help guide our market strategy
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of successful B2B technical sales or business development experience, specifically within industrial minerals, aggregates, mining, or heavy chemical manufacturing
- Education: Formal education in Business or Finance, or a related technical/commercial field. Equivalent experience will also be considered in lieu of formal education
- Skills: Proven track record of negotiating commercial contracts and managing sales cycles
- Knowledge of horticulture industry and technical education preferred
- Tools: Proficiency with modern CRM platforms and data-driven pipeline tracking
- Attributes: Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills; self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
