Job Summary

Business Development Managers are the tip of Vanderlande's sales spear, driving our Warehousing growth. They seek out and pursue new business opportunities, share valuable industry insights, and collaborate with our marketing and sales teams to create and transform leads into high-potential prospects. With a sharp focus on building interest and elevating brand awareness, they play a crucial role in shaping the future of our business. Business Development Directors also identify and build strong relationships with external partners and consultants, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment. They ensure a seamless and successful handoff to our sales and sales engineering teams, laying the foundation for strong customer relationships and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue new warehousing-sector opportunities; lead proactive (“hunter”) outreach.

  • Engage senior decision makers early to assess needs and solution fit.

  • Develop and prioritize target accounts and map key stakeholders.

  • Provide early high-level ROM estimates before handoff to sales.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and consultants.

  • Work with marketing and sales to convert MQLs to SQLs and run demand‑generation initiatives.

  • Track market trends, customer insights, and competitive shifts to refine BD strategy.

  • Represent Vanderlande at industry events, trade shows, and speaking engagements.

  • Drive structured marketing campaigns and support digital and brand-awareness efforts.

  • Use CRM and digital marketing tools to manage pipeline and generate leads.

  • Support customer experience improvements (e.g., NPS, journey enhancements).

  • Coach colleagues on BD practices and influence cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales (warehousing/logistics preferred).

  • Strong technical understanding of material handling and warehousing operations.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience with strategic sales initiatives, lead generation, and value-based selling.

  • Strong financial acumen (ROI, NPV, payback).

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and digital marketing tools.

  • Knowledge of Vanderlande or similar automation solutions is a plus.
