A day in the life

The Business Development Manager – Energy Solutions scales Prologis’ battery energy storage and solar PV business across Europe by building a high-quality multi-country pipeline and converting opportunities into approved, contracted, ready-to-build projects. The role supports the integration of energy across the Prologis portfolio and helps secure access to power for customer growth, electrification, resilience, and new development. This person owns the end-to-end commercial development process and partners closely with Capital Deployment, Real Estate, Leasing, Engineering, Execution, Finance, Legal, and Asset Management. They also work with customers, utilities, developers, advisors, and strategic partners to develop repeatable commercial solutions that can scale across European markets.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and manage a European pipeline of battery storage and solar opportunities across new developments, acquisitions, the existing portfolio, and strategically relevant land, prioritizing opportunities based on customer demand, grid conditions, regulation, commercial potential, and delivery feasibility.
  • Integrate power and energy requirements into land acquisitions, investment cases, development concepts, customer proposals, and portfolio planning in partnership with Capital Deployment, Real Estate, Leasing, and local teams.
  • Develop battery storage and onsite solar opportunities by assessing grid connection potential, market routes, revenue models, regulatory requirements, subsidies, commercial structures, and key development risks with internal specialists and external partners.
  • Own opportunities from initial assessment and qualification through commercial structuring, investment approval, contract signature, and ready-to-build status, including development of investment cases covering technical design, capex, revenue, risk, schedule, and asset ownership.
  • Lead partner selection, commercial negotiations, and approval coordination with developers, optimizers, utilities, customers, strategic counterparties, and internal stakeholders while maintaining visibility of milestones, risks, blockers, and decisions.
  • Coordinate commercial, technical, financial, legal, permitting, grid-related, and external-advisor workstreams across multiple European markets and ensure structured handover of contracted projects to Engineering, Execution, and Asset Management.
  • Translate successful projects and market insights into repeatable propositions, commercial structures, partnerships, and go-to-market approaches that can scale across Europe.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • At least five years of business development, project development, or commercial experience in renewable energy.
  • Direct experience in battery energy storage.
  • Ability to originate opportunities and progress projects through commercial structuring, investment approval, contract, and ready-to-build status.
  • Ability to evaluate European power-market, grid, regulatory, permitting, commercial, technical, and delivery factors affecting solar and battery projects.
  • Ability to build investment cases and negotiate commercial agreements with internal and external counterparties.
  • Ability to manage multiple project opportunities across countries and stages of development.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe as required.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in an additional European language.
  • Experience developing repeatable commercial models, partnerships, or go-to-market approaches across multiple European markets.
  • Demonstrates willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed. Exercises sound judgment, creative thinking, and accountability for outcomes.
