Business Development Lead – Commonwealth of Virginia 

UDig is seeking a Business Development Lead - State Government to focus on strategic relationship building with the Commonwealth of Virginia and its multiple agencies. Strong candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of both state government and technology consulting services. Leveraging their knowledge and experience, this person will need to be a creative seller who understands the challenges of state government and can use those challenges to shape narratives connected to UDig solutions.

How Things Go Down as a Business Development Manager

A typical day might entail:  

  • Proactively prospecting and researching agencies and stakeholders within the Commonwealth of Virginia. 
  • Establishing and growing relationships with prospects through networking and cold outreach. 
  • Presenting UDig capabilities and services to prospects and identifying opportunities for UDig to work with new agencies and stakeholders.  
  • Educating key prospects on relevant industry trends and insights and how they align with UDig service offerings and experience. 
  • Collaborating with technical delivery teams to develop winning proposals. 
  • Conducting regular client check-in meetings to maintain relationships and identify areas of opportunity to grow the account. 
  • Staying current on industry trends as well as UDig services and capabilities.
  • Tracking all activity in Salesforce and managing multiple concurrent sales cycles.

Below are a few boxes you should be able to check if you’re interested:  

  • 5+ years of experience in a business development focused role in the technology services industry. 
  • Current or prior experience selling project-based consulting services is a MUST.   
  • Established professional network in the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state agencies. 
  • Exceptional ability to build and nurture relationships and earn trust with decision makers. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to present and communicate high-level technical concepts and solutions to audiences with varying technical knowledge. 
  • Proactive by nature and driven to succeed. 
  • Ability to take your work seriously and enjoy a good time with your UDig colleagues. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
