Job Title Business Development Executive
Reports To Business Development Manager (BDM)
Location Nairobi, Kenya (with travel to project sites and client meetings as required)
Department Commercial / Business Development
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Our Client is an established provider of Integrated Electronic Security Systems (surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, visitor and parking management, and related solutions) with a strong client base across government, financial, and commercial sectors in Kenya and the region.
The Business Development Executive supports the Business Development Manager by driving ground-level lead generation, outreach, and coordination cold calling, setting up meetings, gathering project and market information, and drafting quotations. This frees the BDM to focus on strategic, senior-level relationships with consultants, architects, and project owners. While this is a support role, the BDE also carries their own mandate: they are expected to generate and progress credible leads independently, and are accountable for converting these into closed accounts, working closely with but not solely dependent on the BDM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct outbound cold calling and outreach to identify and generate leads within target sectors and industries.
• Set up meetings and introductions for the BDM with consultants, architects, quantity surveyors, project owners, and security managers.
• Carry out groundwork site visits, project sightings, and market canvassing to identify projects under construction or in the pipeline.
• Feed timely, accurate ground-level information and market intelligence back to the BDM to support relationship and pipeline strategy.
• Draft quotations in coordination with the presales team, based on gathered site details, client requirements, and specifications.
• Maintain and update the CRM system on a regular basis with leads, contacts, and activity.
• Follow up on leads and maintain ongoing contact with prospects to keep the pipeline warm between BDM engagements.
• Own delivery against agreed KPIs including volume of credible leads and contacts generated, and their conversion into closed accounts.
• Work independently to progress own leads through to close where appropriate, in addition to supporting leads originated by the BDM.
• Provide general coordination and administrative support to the BDM scheduling, documentation, and follow-through on action items.
• As the role matures, may be assigned focus on a specific industry vertical to build deeper sector knowledge and contacts.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
• A minimum of 1–2 years of B2B business development, sales support, or telesales experience.
• Confident, persistent, and comfortable with outbound cold calling and fieldwork.
• Well organized, with strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with CRM systems.
• Comfortable working with quotation formats/data and coordinating with the presales team on pricing inputs.
• Able to work both under the direction of the BDM and independently, taking ownership of own leads and targets.
Added Advantage: Prior exposure to the ELV (Extra Low Voltage) or electronic security domain will be considered an added advantage.
Benefits
- Product and technical training provided on onboarding — no prior security-systems product knowledge required.
Direct mentorship from the BDM, with a clear path to grow into a more senior business development role. - A collaborative, team-based way of working rather than an isolated, individual sales role.
