Job Description

JOB TITLE: Business Development Associate
LOCATION: Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds or Chester
SALARY: Starting from £40,824
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Minimum two days per week or 40% of working hours in office/hub.

The Role:
In this exciting new role, you'll primarily play a pivotal part in increasing our franchise by identifying businesses that don’t bank with us at present. You'll personally devise and implement strategies to approach, build and maintain a relationship with key decision makers in these businesses promoting our service and products to a point where they are happy to discuss their banking needs with us and how we can support them with a view to them transferring their banking relationship to us.

You'll be instrumental in deepening and growing our relationships with businesses, with turnovers of between £10m and £25m or with those having significant borrowing requirements across most sectors. You'll need to be confident, innovative and organised balancing working on your own for the majority of the time whilst at the same time collaborating with and supporting a team of Relationship Directors so that their focus is placed on client interaction and Business Development activities.

You'll have the opportunity to work flexibly, develop personally & professionally within Commercial Banking and work collaboratively with an ambitious team to build our business and directly contribute to the Group’s vision of Helping Britain Prosper.

What you'll be doing:

  • Researching and identifying key target prospects using market intelligence tools, to build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential clients.
  • Outreach via a set methodology to target prospects to introduce our services, generate interest, and establish meaningful connections with prospective clients.
  • Booking prospect meetings for relationship managers.
  • Monitoring and tracking progress, maintaining accurate records within CRM systems, updating pipeline statuses.

Although commercial knowledge and experience is preferable, this is not a requirement as you’ll be able to gain this knowledge on the job through formal and informal training.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer-facing role within financial services
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to use initiative and work on your own
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A confident and resilient approach to client interaction
  • Great / prompt follow through with both customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver against financial targets
