Reporting to the finance director, the business controller is supporting the global software BU and our EMEA Flexo BU. The successful candidate will be a key partner to the business, supporting with meaningful analysis, and good quality, on time reporting. This person needs to drive reporting and process improvements where possible and ensure compliance and will be located in Gent, Belgium. 

In this role, you are acting as the Business controller: 

• Monthly Closing: analyzing results versus forecast, explaining one-off costs, propose countermeasures (different accounting procedures, better monitoring, etc.).
• Prepare and analyze the monthly closing and operational reports: Sales and Gross margin, Sales Forecast, Sub regional P&L, Operating expenses, backlog, past due analysis, funnel, etc.
• Take the lead in gathering business input in supporting the budgeting and monthly forecasting process (P&L and Working Capital).
• Day to day collaboration with regional sales and service Directors and the sales operations team.
• Ad hoc reporting to support the business.
• Help drive core sales growth and margin expansion targets and actions with the business by providing the necessary analysis and reporting.
• Help drive Working Capital improvements through supporting analysis on all WC components.
• Be part of the monthly software core BU and flexo BU closing finance meeting, GL closing meetings, Sales forecast calls and Regional meetings.
• Look for continuous improvement and automation of reporting for improved visibility.
• Monthly Cut off testing.
• Support Internal and External Audits.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• University degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or equivalent work experience.
• Related experience of at least 5 years in a multinational company with regional exposure.
• Internal or External Audit experience is a plus. Conversant with accounting standards and ethical compliance practices.
• Experience in working in an international environment (US GAAP - SOX).
• Experience with AX Dynamics / Onestream / PowerBI is considered a plus, but not a prerequisite.
• Ability to work independently, well organized and strong prioritization skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Hands-on, able to get into detail as necessary.
