The Business Analyst will provide support for the Regulation & Compliance team with the regulatory reporting requirements required for being a distribution network operator licensee, supporting the Compliance & Contract Officer with the completion of assets transfer process between the Asset Management & Operations team and the Regulation & Compliance team. 

 The role holder will ensure maintenance of the Sphere business financial model, interpreting, analysing and managing the financial implications of the growth aspirations and entry to market as the business progresses, adapting the model accordingly and engaging with stakeholders as necessary to escalate findings. They will develop, maintain and present financial models relating to Sphere activities to Director level.  

 The Business Analyst is responsible for the accurate monitoring and tracking of the financial performance of the Sphere P&L, Balance Sheet and Business Plan projections, and regular accurate reporting of the financials and KPI metrics, identifying and highlighting any risks or issues and making recommendations to address these. They are also responsible for direct liaison with the Procurement team to support all procurement processes. 

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Accountable for processing all Ofgem’s Guaranteed Standards of Performance payments to customers timeously. 
  • Support the preparation and circulation of all regulatory reports that are required to be submitted to Ofgem. 
  • Assist with the transfer of asset ownership monitoring between the Asset Management & Operations team and the Regulation & Compliance team to ensure all assets have their status always recorded within the CRM platform. 
  • Be the expert in understanding all relevant procurement processes, by ensuring we follow the regulated and non-regulated processes at the appropriate times, following the investment committee guidelines. 
  • Be the SME in SAP financials, ensuring that all costs are recorded accurately and timeously and that all monthly financial performance results are reported to the Sphere Management team with any variations or issues to be addressed highlighted appropriately. 
  • Produce the weekly KPI reports and be confident in discussing the results with the wider Sphere Management Team 
  • Responsible for the monthly DUoS billing to ensure that all suppliers have been billed by the BPO service at the IT provider, ensuring that all processes have run successfully, and any errors have been escalated to the Head of Regulation & Compliance. 
  • Be the lead contact with the Corporate support functions to ensure we are following processes and within the relevant timetables, e.g. Procurement, Control, Cyber and Data Protection. 
  • Ensure that the annual budget and quarterly forecasts are submitted to Control timeously and within their set timetables. 
  • Responsible for all procurement processes and activities to support the Sphere team utilising i-Buy and SAP, ensuring detailed analysis of pricing structures and contractual terms are well understood and that these feed into the overall budget costs. 

 

What you’ll bring 

  • Diploma/Degree in Finance, Business or Economics or related work experience 
  • Strong experience working in spreadsheets (best practise modelling, reports, advanced formulas, pivots, charts, macros), PowerPoint and Word skills 
  • Financial modelling and budget creation/tracking experience will be greatly valued 
  • Must be a self-starting and motivated individual who is able to effectively direct and manage priorities while meeting fixed deadlines for deliverables 
  • Flexibility and be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure  
  • Be able to work effectively within a matrix management environment  
  • Must be able to work effectively on an individual basis and as a team member 
  • Must display strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels. 
  • Demonstrated confidence in data interpretation and adapting communication style and method for relevant audiences. 
  • Effective influencing, organisational and analytical skills 
  • Commercially aware, delivery focused and self-motivated individual 
  • Extensive knowledge of key financial, commercial and associated policies and procedures 
  • Capability to manage and influence challenging discussions / situations with internal and external relationships.
