Kemper is seeking an experienced Business Analyst.  Conducts business research/analysis on telephony software and processes. Works with the business and vendors to ensure improvements to the systems are in place.  Reviews systems, processes and technologies on a project basis to provide an overall analysis with recommendations for process, system and technology improvements. Provides analysis to department management with appropriate solutions to reduce costs, recommend automations and promote efficiency within the department. Under direct supervision, oversees projects of various complexity or phases of larger projects for multiple lines of business. Must have the ability to develop strong working relationships with all impacted teams they interface with on a daily basis. Serve as ambassador role for both business and technical areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Gathers data and analyzes business operations to understand strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions, reduce costs, and maintain and reach department objectives.
  • Develops and/or updates documentation of projects and system or process changes and provides feedback to all parties in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology and processes.
  • Conducts analysis with a focus on recommending and offering requirements, such as use cases, business process flows, data flow diagrams, etc. Prepares charts and diagrams to visualize and assist in problem analysis.
  • Develops high level business requirements for functional specifications.
  • Obtains, captures, and validates needed information from stakeholders to form requirements through various analysis techniques. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization. Responsible for requirements management, approval, change, and traceability. Works on multiple projects as a project team member.
  • Proactively searches for process improvement opportunities and technologies to meet company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Two to four years of business analyst experience; insurance industry or a related financial services industry experience is a plus.
  • Background or familiarity with phone or systems like Amazon Connect, Ring Central or Citrix is preferred.
  • Familiarity using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Education equivalent to a college degree in an information technology related or business administration related discipline, supplemented by insurance or computer related courses/knowledge, or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • Must have strong critical thinking, organizational and above average written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with business processes related controls and procedures as well as improvement initiatives.
  • Position requires the ability to work effectively amidst constant interruptions.
  • The ability to manage numerous projects at one time.
  • Pressure to complete projects in a timely manner and ensure a high quality.
  • Ability to understand and develop business requirements and work with staff at all levels to implement improvements to processes and tools.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) complex technical concepts to Information Technology, other Business Units and front-line employees in ways each group will understand.
  • Must have above average attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point. Microsoft Access, SQL, VBA, OBIEE answers or similar experience preferred.
  • This is a hybrid role  working at one of our Kemper offices with possible remote only.
