Job Summary

Performs business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives. Assists in the development of functional, system, and program specifications. Work focuses on reporting, workflow automation, and the implementation and support of enterprise technology solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools for faculty and staff. Under general supervision and performs routine to moderately complex assignments and exercises judgment within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of business processes, reporting needs, and workflow requirements.
  • Analyzes business and user needs to design, develop, and support reports (e.g., Tableau), workflows (e.g., BP Logix, DocFinity), and collaboration solutions that improve access to data and operational efficiency.
  • Partners with campus departments and stakeholders to identify opportunities to apply reporting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools to support decision-making, instruction, and administrative processes.
  • Collects, analyzes, and translates requirements into functional specifications, ensuring alignment with enterprise data structures, security standards, and institutional goals.
  • Develops, tests, documents, and maintains reports, workflows, integrations, and related solutions across enterprise information systems and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams).
  • Provides operational support, troubleshooting, and user training for reporting, workflow, and AI-related tools, ensuring reliable and effective use across campus.
  • Assists in evaluating, piloting, and supporting AI technologies and emerging tools to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative functions, including documenting best practices and supporting adoption.
  • Supports system performance, data integrity, and security, and participates in process improvement, change management efforts, and professional development to maintain current technical knowledge.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience.

The salary range for this position at UW-Stout Polytechnic is $74,000 The Universities of Wisconsin provides an excellent benefits package, including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan, demonstrating our commitment to the diverse needs of our employees.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience performing business analysis, including gathering requirements, documenting processes, and supporting system implementations.
  • Experience working with reporting, data analysis, or enterprise systems in a professional environment.
  • Basic knowledge of business process improvement methodologies and the ability to analyze and document workflows.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, provide user support, and contribute to system documentation and training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and supporting reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau or similar data visualization platforms.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting workflow automation solutions (e.g., BP Logix, DocFinity or comparable tools).
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies, including prompt engineering, workflow integration, or governance considerations in academic or administrative environments.
  • Experience working with enterprise collaboration platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
  • Knowledge of data management concepts, including data structures, data governance, and data security practices.
  • Experience supporting business process improvement initiatives and applying change management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a higher education or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience providing user training, documentation, and technical support for enterprise systems.
