JOB TITLE: Business Analyst – Network Solutions Design
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager, Network Solutions
MAIN LOCATION: Jordan, Amman
WORKING HOURS: Flexible, with the ability to accommodate collaboration across Australian time zones
Objective:
The Business Analyst – Network Optimisation and Modelling plays a key role in shaping Australia Post’s 15-year network strategy by identifying opportunities to enhance operational performance across the Letters and Parcels networks.
This role combines technical expertise, analytical capability, and a strong understanding of logistics to support the development of efficient, scalable, and future-ready solutions.
Working across first, middle, and last mile operations, the analyst applies structured problem-solving approaches to inform the design of innovative, cost-effective, and customer-centric logistics solutions.
Commercial & Strategic Priorities
· Analyse network performance across Letters and Parcels to identify current-state inefficiencies and future-state improvement opportunities.
· Collaborate closely with network planning, operations, engineering, and finance teams to gather relevant cost and operational data.
· Undertake analysis of large data sets to identify critical cost and operational inputs for the execution of network optimisation modelling tasks. Where required, develop bespoke financial and operational models to establish new reference data points.
· Extract from ERP, Terra Data, Data Lake, GCP, Azure, Snowflake or other sources as directed, cleanse, prepare for upload into Supply Chain Design tools or other modelling tools
· Maintain relationships and lines of communication with owners of data e.g. GIS data etc.
· Prepare and run forecasting models for demand, demographic changes or as directed etc.
· Run prescribed scenarios in Supply Chain Design tool. Manage and curate scenarios, and extract outputs
· Develop visual material of modelling results for presentation to diverse stakeholders
· Develop design recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, tailored to suit different geographic and volume contexts (metro, regional, remote)
· Prepare data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and business case development.
Financial (e.g., budget expenditure, revenue, lending authority, profit targets etc.)
· Apply cost allocations to modelling outputs in accordance with established formulas, and provide support in evaluating the financial implications of proposed solutions.

· Engage with stakeholders across the enterprise (i.e. Operations, I&A, Property, Data Teams, Product and Sales teams, etc) to source data and validate results.
· Conduct impact assessments for proposed changes and support change management planning.
Essential Experience:
- Experience in and understanding of logistics principles, particularly related to the first and last mile delivery processes, and how these are affected by volume, distance, and handling
- A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Financial Modelling, or a related field Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data related to delivery performance, customer behaviour, and operational efficiency
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and develop innovative solutions to improve first and last mile delivery
- Knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements related to parcel delivery, including safety standards and transportation laws
- Awareness of current trends and challenges in the logistics and e-commerce sectors
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables
Essential Skills:
- Familiarity with logistics systems, management, networks & hardware (automation) and software
- Ability to create reports and presentations that summarise findings and recommendations
- Familiarity with methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to enhance operational processes and reduce waste
- Ability to design solutions that integrate with existing IT systems, including ERP and CRM platforms
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies
Additional Requirements:
- In addition to the responsibilities listed above the post holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Senior Management Team from time-to-time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
- To participate in the annual performance appraisal process and objective scheme.
- To work in accordance with all APG policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environmental.
